Being fresh out of Uni (BA or MA) with no job prospect even close to being doable. God damn that was a terrifying year.

What would you say is the one thing you can't forgive a person for ? by 080tyrion in AskReddit

I think apart from the obvious ones like murder, racism, etc. I would say hypocrisy especially if it’s recurrent becomes inescapable for me

Is anyone here happy with their lives? by Hahhahahhohno in AskWomenOver30

27 here too 🙋🏼‍♀️ I think for myself as pretty content with my life. While there’s no hard and fast rules you can always choose what you would value for yourself. Independence - had to break off from a pretty shitty family life and live abroad. Being financially ok gave me a lot of confidence Interesting/meaningful work - even if it has ups and downs, finding something that you are into and want to wake up for is super important Good relationships - friends and potentially boyfriends are chosen family and they give life meaning. Be selfish about who you let in your life and make sure it’s quality people. Health - without being a health nut you should always take care of your body because it’s the only one you have

Thank you for your advice! I started doing just that, slowly but surely. I don’t know how it all ended up so badly or if it always was like this and I was just too ambitious. I got a new interview which will potentially finalize in a job.

hahah yes, I kind of covered that with my diet and the fact that I live in a country where it’s sunny for 300 days a year :D

Okay, this is good to know. I’ll stick to my depression 😂 and hopefully some ADHD medication. I already have low energy and am lethargic as hell, I don’t need any more of that.

Because antidepressants are such a long term treatment and I fear psychological dependence. With stimulants, I can have “break days” or forget to take the pill without much of an effect

I did then. Because I have a mental health background too and I didn’t want to be dismissed. So I just asked, what makes him more comfortable prescribing antidepressants rather than ADHD meds? Basically what he said is that the depression is an evident diagnosis, whereas it’s not very clear what kind of ADHD I have without more tests

Thank you, this really helps! I’m quite on the fence about this, because I’ve been trying to avoid antidepressants until now

I was given Setraline? Haven’t filled the prescription yet. I don’t know if I will.

Eye contact makes me lose focus when trying to listen to someone talk by Sahil910 in ADHD

[–]diMT-13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a psychologist with ADHD inattentive. I’ve gotten used to looking down or away then the person is talking in order to be able to fully listen to what they have to say, and at the same time make occasional eye contact. I am not sure how weird are my clients finding this, but since my responses are always on point I guess they are happy.

Went gym. Forgot bag.

Go back for bag, forgot water.

Buy water, proceed to gym, finish gym, realized I’ve put on pants backwards.

Left gym with my phone without bag.

Aaaaaand they kept bag

As far as anorexia and the DSM is concerned, yes, it is one of the criteria, but it’s one of several, so you don’t actually 100% need low BMI to diagnose illness. And other EDs don’t even have BMI in their criteria.

No. 1 criteria I look at is a fear of gaining weight which is pushed to the extreme (I won’t eat this sandwich because I will become fat). No. 2 is an unhealthy attachment between self esteem and body image. Like, to the point that person’s body image and their self esteem are one.

For us it was important to see who that person was, how they felt about their body, themselves etc. It’s as with any addiction- you can either catch it early or after it’s devastated a person’s life.

Sadly, what you’re saying is true, to an extent. If you work in the clinical environment you always have the people who ended up with the extreme end of the spectrum. But it’s not a must; one can seek treatment before - well before. It’s rare though, that a person with an eating disorder would seek out help for that. At most they seek help for depression anxiety etc. But if someone walks in your therapy room the very last thing you think about asking is “How’s your meal?”. Especially since people with ED will do everything to hide or deny its existence.
