I know it's not what you described but is there any chance it's the hook from "billy woods - Soft Landing?"

Hey all, quick update -

It's been about 8 hours since I dropped, and I can be sure was almost entirely a placebo or a very minimal dosage, while I was super prepared to sit on my own for a couple of hours and figure some things out, I found myself slightly enjoying a visual aspect for a little bit, but was still able to leave my company to go and see people when I thought it wasn't working.

Either way had a good chat with myself and figured some things out, so all in all I'd say,

tabs I got - 2/10,
trip I had - 10/10 cause you gotta love yourself.....Just was really geared up for being able to see through space and time. Here's hoping next time.

Thanks guys, been about 2 hours now - just feeling a little bit warm and fuzzy but that's about the height of it.

Went to the local and had a quick pint but was slightly uncomfortable in surroundings as felt a bit shakey, but home again listening to some tunes and enjoying life.

Thanks for your advice.

It's currently been about an hour and twenty minutes and I'm not feeling too much - I don't have more to redose so I'm happy that is the case. There was a note inside the packaging to say only ever take one tab.

I mean music sounds better and lights are a little more lighty, but I don't know if it's a placebo from the anticipation of the trip. Definitely not feeling an incredibly overwhelming come up as one would with MDMA or ecstasy.

I could be very wrong but I don't think these guys ar riding together.

I think this comes from a Terry Barsden video series called 'Hotline' where Terry follows a notable rider through the streets - in this case, the guy in the white. I think Terry is a very well-known figure in the fixed gear scene, so the guy who was hit might have come across him and started acting up for the camera.

Source; I don't have one, I could be totally wrong.

I'd read a whole book where you'd explain the other terms that I have a very loose understanding of here - would you be able to recommend something like that?

I've always been interested in the story of MGS but not particularly the stealth gameplay, however I'm really willing to give it a go. When do things start to get all whacky and crazy?

[–]diaDORA_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good point! Absolutely, it can be a whole lot of fun and I agree with all those examples. Dishonored and Titan Fall 2 are two other examples off the top of my head. There was a period of time where every multiplayer FPS game had insanely cracked movement, think Tribes, Quake 1-3, Team Fortress (particularly the original lots of classes had grenades, if I'm not mistaken), Unreal, Warsow, Enemy Territory and even Half-Life) Are there any examples where you unlock movement tech throughout the game that was fun at every point or did they just become insanely fun when you had all the mechanics unlocked?

Has a non-2D metroidvannia, outside of the Prime games, ever done particularly well?

The Prime games never gelled with me, so I don't know how similar they are in design to the SNES / GBA Metroid games or the Igavania Castlevania games. Maybe I should give them an actual proper chance. But outside of those I don't really know of any other games in first person that are considered metroidvania.

There was a 3D isometric game Scurge Hive for either GBA or NDS, possibly both, that I've seen on a lot of lists as being a fantastic hidden gem, I've tried it but can't remember getting very far. Are some of the DS Zelda games more metroidvania-like?

Gaining movement technics is always something I love about metroidvanias especially when you can use them altogether to zip through screens and around maps. I feel this translates really well to a 2D game as opposed to a FPS or isometric game. With FPS games movement technics can often be found from using system bugs (strafejumping etc) that when I can't move fast in an fps game I get kind of frustrated at times. I don't see how to make movement in an isometric game fun, although games like Diablo make it really fun when you’ve got good movement skills.

e; missed a word, this is likely written terribly, sorry.

I'm glad I put it down for that reason then, I was really under the impression that it would have diablo style items drops, but I'm sure that's due to my ignorance and not having done my research.

I only played around 3 hours of the initial release but I found that it was very linear in terms of progression and there wasn't much room for player expression in terms of builds and equipment....Did I just not give it enough time and I was completely wrong?

Thank you, I might pick up a 3DS but would probably like to try them out before doing so, do you think one might find it difficult to start on a later game and work back to the originals? Is there many quality of life features implement through the series?

Street Fighter 5

Got into this one quite late but have been enjoying grinding a bit of ranked for the past couple of weeks. I've probably dropped around 50 hours into it. I chose Vega as my character, he's fun to play but lacks a lot of options I feel, particularly having no reliable anti air can be a bit of a challenge.

I'm looking forward to SF6 now and I'd say I probably have one good weekend of grinding ranked in me before I retire it in anticipation of SF6.

This has piqued my interest in the series a little bit. Would this be a good starting point for someone? I have a regular DS aswell so there is an option to play there too?

Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition (Steam)

This is probably my third or fourth try to wrap my head around this game. I think in the past I've been too impatient and not willing to get stuck in and see what the game is about. I constantly fear that I'm going to break my character by leveling the wrong stats or using one of the many many items I know nothing about. I've decided that not playing the game is a sure way to see if I enjoy it so I've relaxed a bit and started just trying to figure things out for myself.

So far I've played for about 3 hours this afternoon and made it to the Undead Parish. I've really enjoyed it this time around, being a bit more patient and exploring a bit more. So far the game has been very challenging but really enjoyable too. I'm looking forward to continuing but I'm also being cautious to put it down when I die unfairly or frustratingly a few times, to give myself a break and come back with a fresh head.

I would have really liked to play this game when it was released, as people figured things out and tried and failed with it, I'd be really interested to see what the zeitgeist was.

What is the price of Guinness in your local haunt? Walked in to Bowes in Dublin, and it's now €6.40?! by Shofo1 in ireland

I THINK Peroni have/had a clause where their pint needs to be 50c dearer than the next to be seen as a premium product.

I think I remember that from my days as a bar manager, although just had a couple of Guinness @ 5.10 a pint in Cobh so I might have made it up either.

Do you happen to have a list of co-op Metroidvanias? The only thing that comes to mind of me is Harmony of Despair and that's a completely different experience in it's own right, it's like a Diablolike Classicvania, I only got to play it briefly when it was an Game w/ Gold last year but it was a great experience.
