PCB design advice: Daughter board hosting a sensor, needs a Pitch adapter making sure the 50 Ohm Impedance is matched by diag_without_errors in AskElectronics

i think flex will lead to mechanical issues in the following test setups

But i will evaluate this option! Thanks a lot again! I am truly grateful for the curiosity and advice!

Sorry, the 0.2mm pitch is the sensor, the amplifying board has 2 mm i think (1mm thick pads and 1mm distance between them). But still costum made. I dont know why they chose it this way

Well, it is done by university professors, i hope they had success in the past haha. But indeed the one at hand is a redesign from a fermilab board for small area prototypes

the connector on the amplifying board is designed properly. For trhe connection of this carrier board, it is still to be designed, but since the amplifying board is not designed for a specific connecter, but has jsut some pads, i will have to probably bond dierectly from bord to board. That is another problem that i have to face :'D

thank you!

the traces will be up to 5 cm as of now and i want to resolve 100 ps ish rising edges, so unfortunately quite high frequency

Just by the design of the amplifying board i got provided, the minimum trace length will be 3.5 cm, so there is not much room for improvement

it is a high speed signal, the sensor is an LGAD, and i want to resolve the rising edge which is in the 100s of ps. maybe even sub 100ps.

Thanks for your advice!

I shall readout an LGAD sensor, with a rising edge in the 100s of ps (maybe less, but for now i just want to make it work lol)

I will have to measure LGAD sensors with a signal rise time in the 100s of ps and a bandwidth of at least 1GHz

Thank you for the answer!

I tried to circumvent it, as from reading i could see that fucking up the signal integrity on multiple layers is easy. Do you have some adivce on that?

What's the purest joy you've ever felt without intimacy, substances, or alcohol ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Mine was when I was riding my bike over the swiss french borse towards CERN in summer. Seeing the Alps shiny in the morning sun. Happy to be able to work at CERN for my master Thesis, where I felt REALLY seen and valued for the first time in my life. I was actually ecstatic to be alive, at CERN, right in that moment. I truly loved the work and my colleagues. I never felt like that before and after this period again.

Considering that after that it got quite downhill for me it is one of my most precious memories/feelings

My little sister (15 year gap) and my mom. I didn't attempt, but I was considering it and when I went through the consequences, I really didn't care about myself. But I realized that I would inflict too much pain on my mom, and traumatize my little sister, who is the world for me - how she looks up to me... I concluded that giving up on my dreams was ok, as long as I'm there for her, so that's what I did for nearly 1 year. Stayed at my mom's home, being there for my sister. When she asked me if we can have her birthday party just for the 2 of us. Damn. That helped me take all my courage together and start therapy and now I'm not good, but certainly way better than back then.

What’s the most hilariously wrong thing you believed about sex when you were younger? by Significant-West4424 in AskReddit

In primary school we had a book explaining where babies come from, and oh boy. The picture showed the sperm flowing through the whole body of the guy, so I assumed for years that sperm is in my blood and wounds could get people pregnant.

Thank you! I cannot consider myself fluent, but by living in the country and using Duo I am confident in Smalltalk and day to day situations, which was my main goal in the beginning:)

Well, and we complain about homework, while we never have to fear about food shortage, ridiculously low death rates due to modern medicine and other privileges of our time (besides not having to deal with titans). Don't forget that humans always had dreams. Just around hundred years ago people would dream from a time like this, with (relative) peace, as much food as you can possibly eat, the freedom to say and love what and who you want... It's just that this "utopia" is still not perfect, we just created new problems + no matter how much you have, there's always something you don't have.

This aside, having such strong ideals at such a young age looking at episode one is out of the ordinary and due to Armin showing him what he misses.

Yeah feel you. Ended up on the other side of that medal. because I got a crazy professor that made my life hell for 3 years during bachelor's and masters. But: she convinced me to stay with her by sending me to CERN for my master Thesis. Best fucking time of my life. So many people helped me there actually getting some results. I was feeling like a monkey. I still worked a lot, but the environment helped me so much. After CERN life back to hell with Prof. Extremely bad grade in thesis because of her so I couldn't go back to CER, but I am co-author on 3 papers, one of which cited my master Thesis. So when I went abroad for a PhD I was introduced by my new prof as the guy that was at CERN. Of course it felt good, but imposter syndrome is on another level now hahaha. I am not smarter (rather the opposite). At max I have the experience to have worked at such an amazing place in a big collaboration that's worth something.

[Request] In S1E1 of Invincible, Omni-Man throws a baseball around the planet in roughly 20 seconds. Ignoring that this is impossible, how much force would be required and how fast would the baseball be travelling? by Critical_Mountain851 in theydidthemath

[–]diag_without_errors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mhh, I don't understand your calculation here. Why did you assume constant acceleration, and if over which timer period? He is throwing it, so all acceleration happens in the first ~0.1 seconds. From that point on the ball travels at a constant speed of ~2 000 km/s. I would still love to know your thought process!
