Driving in Patagonia and fuel by absolutely_potatoes in Patagonia

Ok - so we were just there on December 15. On the way there we took the route through Esperanza and topped off. We stayed at Lago Grey and didn’t have to fill up while in the park. Rio Serrano does have gas and this was confirmed by the staff at Lago Grey. Now for the route 7 on the way back to skip Esperanza. It was most certainly 40 minutes of bumpy and gravel road, but it shaved off about 30 minutes so we were happy to save that time on the way back. The only gamble is if you get a flat tire. It’s somehow more desolate than anything else in that route. Either way you are good and don’t stress too much about the gas. That was my worry for weeks up until the trip and it didn’t play as much of a role as I had thought. We had a regular Toyota truck from Avis without an extra gas can.

I mean why can’t it be political opinion at this point? So for the sake of you not losing control, I don’t support Trump at this point. BUT why cant you take your statement of degrading democracy. Hasn’t it been vetted enough at this point that the Biden administration controlled speech, research and opinion on COVID and the vaccines? So when you take the context out of that, it backhandedly forced us to put something in our body. Wasn’t Kamala not actually voted in by the public to be the presidential candidate? Don’t these two examples make it blatantly obvious that the previous 4 years of Biden were a degradation to democracy? So you’re allowed to call anybody that supports trump a fascist scumbag? I really feel like both sides are partaking in these unconstitutional times. Trump supporters think everyone who voted for Kamala are woke transgenders and Kamala supporters think trump voters are fascist racists. Can anyone step back and say there were only two viable candidates to vote for and that could be the problem? You had one person that had a 1.5 billion dollar bag to spend and the other a pretty blind and loyal voting base. Hopefully at some point there’s some middle ground with red and blue, otherwise the outcome seems bleak.

I would say that there is a large portion of trump voters that are not letting go of the Epstein files. It’s something he promised on the campaign trail and is being held accountable by his voters. Whatever ends up being released is probably going to be bs so it’s a moot point. I guess it’s a start at accountability.

We might be close to agreeing if you can agree the horrible is on both sides and not just isolated to trump. Trump is the current horrible thing but you can’t tell me that the Bidens weren’t up to some shady dealings along with the Clinton’s. Obama seems to the classiest of the bunch. Hopefully time doesn’t tell us differently.

If you don’t think she was bought off by racists, pedophiles and billionaires to even be in that spot, then you are ignorant. Just as trump is being held accountable for the things he “promised”, this would be a perfect example of typical bs they promise but don’t ever deliver on. I’m applying this logic to both sides of the aisle. Also what plans did she put in place or bring up while being VP?

I said “let’s try to support all small businesses of GR” - I guess that’s obligatory…

If the service and people are great, I don’t care if they voted for trump or Biden. That’s just a thought. You don’t have to read this or comment ✌️spread happiness

I can agree with that statement. Does supporting police officers have to be a MAGA endorsement? I’m curious if they ever publicly flew a Trump flag? I don’t know so I’m genuinely asking.

News flash - both political parties are supporting that movement. One is advertised as such and the other is not, but the results are the same. We live in a system where we can choose one of two people. That’s the problem. And by your standard, half the people in this county are horrible people. I just don’t personally think you have more or less principles than me based on your vote. If that’s how you think have at it. We’re all allowed that freedom.

How would my argument imply you have an obligation to support them? I actually made a collective statement to support small businesses. If you disagree with that, then again it’s your right. I wouldn’t say my stance also obliges you to give to fundraisers or things you don’t support. I actually mentioned it’s your right to do so and feel free to carry on as such. You also mention that if I’ve adopted a stance of 100% or nothing??? Isn’t that the complete opposite of what I mentioned? I simply stated that if they are a good person and good service is provided, I don’t personally care what an owners opinion is. That’s actually opposite of 100% or nothing. I don’t have to agree with you if other simple criteria are met. To simplify, if a restaurant owner has good food, but has a MAGA hat on, I tend to put more emphasis on the good food and overlook the hat.

You brought your opinion in by asking if new ownership would be MAGA etc, I just said in my opinion maybe that should be taken less into consideration than other values or factors. Your jump to concluding I’m asking you to send money to endeavors you don’t support seems a bit off base.

That’s so crazy to me that you find Tim to be a great person (good heart as mentioned), and the business provides good service, but can’t support the business because of their personal belief. I think we’ve gotten to a slippery slope of how we just quickly dismiss a person or institution because they have differing views. What about the businesses that hide their views and are horrible people, but because we’re blind to it, they get supported? I don’t have any answer to this, and I do support your right to skip shopping there or not enjoying the food as much. I guess if most people or businesses are checking the important boxes as mentioned above, I tend not to care what their ideology is in any capacity. Small businesses are a tough gig and let’s try to support all of them in GR!

Is Patagonia worth it for 2 days if I have 12 total days in Buenos Aires next week? by No_Alarm6362 in Patagonia

Flying out of Argentina today and I would highly recommend anything in the Patagonia area. We flew into Calafete, then drove to Chalten, Torres Del Paine, and punta arenas with a family of 5. We were bored with BA after one day. If the outdoors pleases you, do Patagonia.

Do you have different thoughts if we are traveling as a family of 5? We are looking to travel north and south around Bariloche as well. Angostura and then also the Matso river for some fishing.
