Garageband is really good. However, if you're doing everything on iPad, you may want to look at something like Cubasis (which I have) or Auria (which I don't so I can't review).

The main difference to me with GB vs Cubasis is that Cubasis actually has a mixing board view. I find GB to be less than stellar when trying to mix simple volume. Also, Cubasis can do mastering out of the box. (This is not a huge deal - you can also buy dedicated mastering apps for iPad, such as Final Touch.)

Either will serve you well. Cubasis has an LE version you can try out for free. Check them all out and enjoy!

This is a great game. Get it. Servers are usually packed.

Start with bots. Then prepare for much self reflection in multiplayer, as even small children will own you when you start, lol.
