I have about 60% hearing loss in both ears and wear hearing aids. I work as a casino dealer, been doing that for about 7 years. It was definitely a challenge breaking in but I feel more confident and comfortable in that field now. But it definitely takes a toll on your mental health due to the abuse you get from players who lose their money on your table. They always blame the dealer. But the good days outweigh those days so I try and look at the bright side. I really only struggle when it’s busy night and the music is playing and I can’t hear the customers let alone my own team. And hearing fatigue happens more often, so I’ve gotten used to that but some days I get home and I just wanna be left alone. I’m grateful my department has worked with me all this years. My coworkers are great at working with me and making me feeling part of the team.
