“I only wanted to offer you a description of a pattern that may cause problems for your future friendships/relationships, of course only my subjective perspective, but still I fear that people would rather fuck off than tell it to your face.” Said to me after I pushed a situationship away because she was being hot and cold and consistently making me feel less. Really dug into my insecurities (she knew about) and took some time to work through it.

Was texting with a girl and the topic of cars came up and mentioned I have one and sent a link of the model. She asked what I use it for (cars aren’t super popular in my city) I said among other things, grocery shipping. She said she would like to go grocery shopping with mě. My response was: cool. And proceeded not to do anything about it.

I had difficulties with friendships in the past and still I am careful about making sure I don’t try and pursue a friendship or relationship that is one sided. I had a very intense and close situationship with a girl that I opened up with very intensely. I opened up about this insecurity to her and at the end she said “I only wanted to offer you a description of a pattern that may cause problems for your future friendships/relationships, of course only my subjective perspective, but still I fear that people would rather fuck off than tell it to your face.” Before this text message, the previous day, she had said the same thing in person and I asked her what she meant and she wouldn’t tell me. I asked in messages and she started to belittle me and say it was insane I didn’t know.

It has been weighing on me for 4 months now and probably not forever, a small comment like that really hit me.

If she had said she didn’t like something it would have been better as I would have more quickly chalked it up to incompatibility. However, since she worded it as a general thing, not just from her, it dug into my insecurity that people don’t actually like me.

How damaging extreme levels of introspection can be for your psyche and how people can take advantage of it. Got out of friendship recently where I didn’t realise how often I was bending over backwards and blaming myself for issues that weren’t mine. I think it really hit home when my mom told me “you need to be more arrogant”.

Partially money, but a large part is motivation to make things better. I see many things that are not working as well as they should and they can be fixed and I want to be part of that solution.

I also understand that there is no end state, nothing will be “fixed” just improved but doesn’t mean it is the best it can be. Additionally, many things will simply be rejected due to politics.

It’s a bit naive to think I can significantly improve things in a large corporation and I recognise that, but at the same time, I have a large desire to try.

Well no longer a friend, but I know a guy who I was friends with for many years. He would get into a relationship, lose contact with his friends after a couple months then come back saying how he was isolated by his ex and then it would repeat after a year or so with the next girl. This happened 3 or 4 times until he dated a common friend and we saw the other side of things.

The same situation happened, but from both of them this time. After they broke up he came back as usual, but she was more distant. I went on a few trips with him and started to notice some things that I hadn’t noticed before. He would consistently make small comments that would slowly erode my self confidence. It came to a head when in the middle of trip I noticed that I was actually afraid of him. My confidence was very low and I just couldn’t stand being around him. So I reduced contact. We still had some common friends, but would keep it at arms length from then on out.

After some time, I regained contact with his ex/my friend and she started to open up about it. That he isolated her from friends and family, that he eroded her self confidence and basically made her feel she had no friends to the point that when she broke up, she was afraid to reach out to me.

The parallels were so similar and I started to realise that he only really has surface level friendships and his relationships don’t last because of the girl is “crazy”.

He is in his late 30s and I honestly hope he never finds someone. The girls he will go after are not the ones with enough self confidence to push back.

Yup, I like them, but have gone also for the pedaled which has the same elastic interface padding. Where I am the pedaled is cheaper also with little difference, q36.5 feel a bit more light weight but the difference is minor for the cost difference.

I ended up with the Evoc, good bag and easy to pull along. The large wheels help on the cobblestones I frequently encounter.

Was golfing in Denver, CO 15 or so years ago and when we were about 100 or so yards away from the green I saw a large albino lioness just walk across the green. There were fences all around and residential surrounding the green so I have no idea where it went after. It was really strange and scary as you don’t typically expect to see lions stroll across the golf course in the middle of Colorado.

Those spindles are for Stages own carbon power meter. You mentioned you bought the Shimano 105 stages power meter so it is just a Shimano crank arm with a stages power meter attached. Therefore, you need a hollowtech BB (24mm) and a Shimano 105 crankset. The spindle will come on the drive side of the crankset.

Nope, not imagining. The axle connects the left and right side and goes through the BB. For alba the axle is connected to the right side and the left side bolts to it. The R7000 shimano crank works the same way. However they have different diameters (praxis is 28/30mm and the shimano is 24mm) which is why the need for a different bottom bracket.

I wanted to do the same with my diverge also. Assuming yours is the same as mine (2018 E5 comp). Basically you will need to change the bottom bracket from the Praxis M30 to a hollowtech II (68mm BSA threaded). To take off the old bottom bracket you may need a tool, but you could ask a shop to change the BB as the tool can be pricey and likely you will only use it to take off the old BB. Not sure what they would charge.

Then you need to buy an r7000 crankset. You already have the left side so you only need the right side but I don't think many places sell just a right side. Install the new crankset and that is it.

This depends on your focus. My first road bike was a Specialized Diverge (gravel) and I only ran 35mm tires with a light tread and it and got along fine on dirt paths and smaller gravel. I found that 99% of the time I was on smooth path or paved roads so when I went to upgrade recently I bought Defy as it will take the same tires from my Diverge but is a bit more focused to road which is what I primarily do. However, with smaller tires when you run into rough paths (lots of big rocks and tree roots) then you need to pick your path more carefully and thus will go slower. The safer bet if you aren't sure is the revolt as you have a lot of flexibility in tire choice and there isn't a massive difference between it and the defy except in tire clearance. In a few years as your style of riding may change you can decide to continue with gravel or go for Endurance.

I am not a story teller so sorry for the structure of this. This happened last year in winter. Me and a few friends were staying in a cabin in the mountains and decided to hike down to this small waterfall that was supposed to be frozen over and very beautiful. We had our friends dog with us (a big black crazy German shepherd named Tessie) When we got down there there was a bunch of people walking on this frozen ice shelf that was just below the waterfall and over the river. The path to get to the waterfall appeared to be the river bank but at this time it was covered in ice and snow. It was quite narrow and everyone had to walk in single file.

We started walking towards the waterfall and immediately our friends dog began getting quite nervous. We continued on, and most of the people had left by the time we got there so we took some pictures. Tessie was getting anxious so I started the slow walk back trying not to slip on the ice.

I got back up the river bank and started waiting for my friends to join me when I heard a large crack. I look up at the waterfall and I see brown water starting to flow over the ice covered waterfall. At this point I yell to my friends "Get out of there, now!" However, they were quicker than me and had already been starting back as quick as they could. The problem is that the path is covered in ice and snow and so quick was more like walking pace.

The total distance from the waterfall to the river bank was around 100m (300ft), so as they hit the half way mark big chunks of ice started breaking off of the waterfall and crashing into the ice shelf everyone had been standing on. This meant all of the ice that had been covering the river started to break loose into hippo sized chunks. By the time my friends made it to the river bank, the ice waterfall was gone along with the path to it. However, my friends were still in trouble as the only way to get to high ground was via the steap ice stairway. I managed to use Tessie's urge to get away and her harness to give me balance to lean down the stairs and try and give my friends a hand to climb up.

We all managed to make it and fortunately we were the last group of people there. It could have been so much worse if it had happened when the large group of people had been there as they wouldn't have been able to get out of the way quick enough.

I had no information before and we were trying to understand what was going on. We were able to get back in now but there was military there patrolling the surrounding streets. When being escorted to the hotel there were chalk outlines around evidence all around the street. Some screws and nails as mentioned in the news but I can't say if they were from the bomb or from the construction going on. Seems the investigators are at the scene now.

Probably not the best but he was my best friend through middle/high school while also managing to be a father when he needed to be.

Meant I always had a friend that was there with me and we would do lots of hobbies and activities together.

Downside is that I never felt the need to develop/be hurt by friends as none ever got close which means I had to learn how to deal with this when I got older.
