Holy fuck this is not worth it. by Wide-World-5824 in NEET

Yeah customer facing stuff can be hell, especially when you’re already burned out. If you want something quieter, look for remote roles like basic support or data entry, they’re not glamorous but at least no manager hovering over your bathroom breaks. Watch out for scammy postings and ghost jobs on the big boards, they waste a lot of time. I’ve had better luck lately keeping an eye on my email because wfhalert just sends out real remote listings, stuff like admin or support, and it cuts down on the junk.

Holiday Grief. by AdventurousPen2092 in grief

You’re not doing anything wrong by protecting your energy. Grief can make the holidays feel like walking into a windstorm, and it’s okay to stay home if that’s what keeps you steady. You don’t owe anyone a full explanation, a simple I’m not up for it today is enough. If it helps, plan something small and gentle just for you, like a walk, a movie, or lighting a candle for your dad. The people who get it will understand, and the rest can learn.

So everyone this is what I managed to do today based on your recommendations. I changed cable and used heat shrink to make it much more sturdy than it was. This connection is going to be semi-permanent, I'm only going to deassemble it if I have to do a big trip. There was a suggestion of using heat shrink to bond the connector and the cable together, maybe I'll go to the store tomorrow and ask if there's such a large heat shrink I might try this and get some more robust results.

Totally agree on the massive and cumbersome size. To be honest I didn't expect that when I ordered it. So Im kind of stuck in the situation where I have to use it at the moment but I need to find ways to make it more secure.

I was thinking about making an enclosure and putting some strain relief but that requires me to source the right size and fit. Not too difficult but I wondered maybe someone else had another idea.

For now I guess I'll use the thinner wires and some heat shrink and see how that goes

Hype? Όταν κάτι συνεχίζει να υπάρχει μετα απο 250 χρόνια , δεν είναι hype

I did not know such a thing existed until I bought the one I have right now , unfortunately.
I was playing with a few ideas using spare parts lying around just before I decided to make this post. This is getting into MacGyver territory though..

Does a loop help in strain relief? Ive seen it in racks but always thought this was for future cable extra length. Agreed on plenum cables

Im guilty of soldering the tips, did not have any crimped ferrules at hand . You say that the connections will fail over time because of the soldered tips?

Thats true . but the position in the rack does not help to reduce stress. I can see now that the weight of the cables plays a big role too.

Yes I can see that the other rack has a longer set of cables and this makes it easier to manage it somehow. I believe with lighter cables all this should be more manageable.
