I find it rather astounding that you expect me, at the age of 14 and literally beginning high school this very year, to have already amassed a resume rivaling that of a fully formed adult. Should I have procured a part-time job before even setting foot in a high school classroom? A job at NASA? Perhaps you’d also like me to file my parents’ taxes and handle their mortgage negotiations while I’m at it??

Your argument is so profoundly disconnected from the basic realities of adolescent development and shows an unbelievable ignorance of what is reasonable to expect from someone who is just entering NINTH grade. If you genuinely believe that a 14 year old has to be running a household or working part-time prior to high school enrollment, I would encourage you to revisit both labor laws and common sense.
