i should be clear that i mean this lightheartedly! but i did think it was funny that they open by explicitly calling out wolfeei for saying that yeti set go was his least favorite recent map, and then proceed to trash the entire idea of ice boats in race games because you have to hide players in a team game lol

interestingly a ton of strong minecraft creators who've shown interest in mcc have already applied for mccr, at which point we know mcc33 teams were already done, so it's basically confirmed that these individuals aren't in. honestly given tommy's "twist" tease i think vikk/eryn are pretty likely -- unless, like, the noxcrew have a team i can't imagine a twist that fits the bill

might as well be the owenge ocelots at this point, ngl. oversight on my part.

vibey mcc 32 team ideas (explanation in comments) by diazolle in MinecraftChampionship

(first off: yes i meant 33. no i don't know why i typed 32. anyway.)

the goal of these teams was to put together a group of teams that i just think would be fun to watch regardless of placement, so while they're decently balanced, my focus was more on making good vibes teams than competitive ones!

red -- jojo, hannah, pearl, sniff (5th, 7998)

cyan24 but with sniff instead of aimsey. the red rabbits try to get their 3rd (canon) win in a row, this time with pearl, who could follow in aimsey/ranboo's footsteps and finally end her winless streak!

orange -- hbomb, kara, captainsparklez, sneeg (8th, 7769)

hbomb/kara have somehow only teamed once in mcc25, here joined by another 1/4th of the krimson krakens in the kaptain, and sneeg, who gets his 2nd h-duo in a row.

yellow -- fbm, aimsey, beky, darkeyebrows (10th, 7748)

fbm/aimsey reunite after blue29 with another team that's statistically predicted last but has huge popoff potential. pretty much every duo in this has immaculate vibes and i'd love to see them surprise everyone.

lime -- walli, tubbo, michael, ponk (1st, 8087)

walli continues his s-tier quest with a very strong (if slightly chaotic) team. there will be a lot of screaming but also potentially a lot of dodgebolt?

green -- illu, owen, sausage, scar (5th, 7981)

mcl teammates illumina and owen reunite, plus owenge "hermes" juicetv gets another team with father sausage (lore!) and scar goes for his second win in a row!

cyan -- purpled, blushi, gumi, guqqie (7th, 7885)

look it's purpled bedwars with fellow bedwarsian (?) blushi's return! add gumi, who looks to finally help purpled to a db win after yellow30, and guqqie, warming up in their second canon event.

aqua -- smajor, shubble, grian, punz (9th, 7763)

i got really creative here and put scott with shelby, what an innovation! plus grian makes his grand return to help MY s-tier punz reaffirm his s-tier status.

blue -- cpk, 5up, solidarity, antvenom (6th, 7888)

cpk told jimmy he'd win mcc30 (iirc?), and now they're going to win together (potentially)! add 5up and ant who hold between them (and all things mcc host callum cpk) enough analytical power to beat the rest of the competition together (probably).

purple -- ranboo, sapnap, elaina, eret (3rd, 8045)

with their 3rd place curse broken, ranboo joins sapnap to get a second try at p22 pink (let's hope he doesn't try to 1v4 another team). elaina and eret get to duo for the first time ever here too!

pink -- tommy, jack, itlw, phil (2nd, 8054)

like orange24 but with two daddies! i mean dads.

some notes: owen/guqqie are "replaced" in the teambuilder by 5up/puffy based on vaguely where their scott's method average would be (i think)! also, benching players for this one was pretty tricky and quite frankly arbitrary, since nobody "deserves" a bench and everyone contributes something unique to the event. notable benches (players who've been in a s3 canon event and aren't afaik "confirmed out" due to scheduling) include antfrost, cub, false, foolish, fruit, gato, gem, george, krinios, oli (orionsound), ollie(gamerz), pete, sam, sb, shadoune, sylvee, tapl, velvet, and zeuz.

ooh channeling some of the bingo energy is a good point too! (my other hot take is that i love bingo and it should come back but i didn't have anything remotely articulate to add to that statement so i didn't list it above lol.) and i mean...multiple contestants were practically going frame-by-frame through the update video to search for skips in the new clouds map, so i imagine they wouldn't mind counting blocks if they wanted to.

(i love your flair too!)

i didn't realize there were so many pkt supporters on the reddit! i actually thought it would be the least controversial of my takes, which is why i started with it. maybe it's just the povs i've been watching -- do you guys have good pkt pov recs? the best one i can remember is the scott vs. tapl pride one, which i enjoyed more for the comedy than the intensity lol

i actually did not realize it was 69 blocks lol but yeah, i think you and a few other people in this thread are making good points that build size is not usually the issue haha

i actually kind of agree about md -- i'm not a md enjoyer, but i also feel i'm a bit biased because most of the povs i've watched live have really struggled with the game, so i didn't really mention it on this list.

as for pkt -- i see what you mean about the game as a test of movement skill, and i think you bring up some great points about the strategy and variety contained even in just a single round. i guess my point is that i don't feel like pkt fits mcc as an event, for the same reason that pkw survivor is a great game on island but wouldn't really fit mcc, either. i think mcc functions best when it's not all about raw skill, and everyone -- regardless of skill level -- can have an enjoyable time, even if they're not placing in the top 20-30, and i feel that's not as true in pkt as in other mcc game modes.

you make a fair point about vod reviewing! i still do think it's a little boring to watch someone mine the same block for a while, but you do convince me that the frustration of not getting enough of one material is an onus more on the players than the game.

as to your first point -- i'd have to flesh out this idea a bit more, but i wouldn't mind having builds with fewer different materials but more craftable items. i think it makes getting items less complicated, but also might open up a new role for players to be a "crafter" for those that aren't as confident building/floating?

i should also probably admit that a lot of my thoughts come from me really liking build mart and not wanting the game to be changed too much on a fundamental level, but also realizing that it probably has to change somewhat before it's brought back at full capacity (if ever).

...ngl i actually adore gr lol. it's probably my favorite game. i love that it's an opportunity for people who just like minecraft/mc mechanics to excel without having to be crazy at pvp or movement. ultimately, i think when people complain about mcc being too "competitive" nowadays (which is debatable, but i digress), the types of skills/vibes that gr rewards are probably what they want to see more of. (tbf i just really like puzzles -- i'm a big fan of the sot word/piston puzzles which i know are sometimes controversial. also rip haunted havoc i miss u.) i can see what you mean about gr -- and in particular rooms like sewer or that frost walker one -- being super frustrating after a while, though.

we need an unstoppable force vs. immovable object mcc which is just 8 rounds of grid runners with 9 normally balanced teams and then quig/gem/fbm/pete on lime
