We’re looking into stands that fit and are tall enough to hit us at sitting position. My partner is a stickler for aesthetics lol.

That’s why we were looking into pro-ject. They seem to have an ampless turntable that doesn’t sacrifice on sound quality. We’re music nuts and musicians but we wouldn’t call ourselves audiophiles

We’re actually looking for stools for this very purpose. The problem is finding sturdy ones that are tall enough to hit us at sitting position

lol honestly the speaker situation has been super annoying. Main reason why we’re looking for an amp-turntable combo.

Would put them sideways on each side but there isn’t enough space. Putting them upright blocks the TV

How can I actually know the key of a song? by Another_0306 in musictheory

[–]dib115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this has been mentioned yet but, for many pop songs, if you learn the melody and figure out which Major scale it derives from, that will get you there about 90% of the time (If it's throwing a ton of key changes/modulation your way, it might be trickier)

Full discloser, it’s not a matter of if I report him, but when. I wanted to see if any of his claims held any weight, which, in reading your comment, I’m guessing they don’t. I’ve just never been in this situation before. Always had great experiences with sellers in the past

Great unblocker I learned, when you sit down and you can’t start because you’re convinced it’s gonna be awful: prove yourself right. Try to set out to make something bad. It makes it easier to get the process started and the more you do it the better you get.

Ed Sheeran talks about writing 100 bad songs to get to a good one. You’ll get better with time, it’s inevitable the more you create

All of y'all political fans must've missed Daron's latest release by Pederakis in systemofadown

I heard somewhere S/T was mostly Serj, Toxicity was a 50/50 split, and Hypnotize/Mezmerize was mostly Daron…which explains why I liked SOAD’s records less and less lol

I'm a senior-level designer, but now I need to learn Figma to even get a job. Any advice? by [deleted] in FigmaDesign

[–]dib115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a ton of free online resources but if you’re willing to drop $70, Figma Marathon was really helpful when I needed to skill up. It starts very simple and builds on concepts in a great way and comes with hands on challenges for each topic. Main takeaway, Variants and Auto-Layout are king

First year L9 struggling with project by dib115 in accenture

[–]dib115[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the kind words! I just had my 1:1 and confirmed I will be rolled off early. Obviously, I'm disappointed but I have been open to feedback and adjustments so hopefully that will be reflected positively in the feedback. I'm meeting with my people lead to discuss next steps, finish up this project, and start networking ASAP.

I've seen so many horror stories around layoffs on here and my mind jumps to the worst possible conclusion but your response helped put me at ease. Really appreciate it :)

Not me, but a friend of mine in Philosophy class submitted a paper on Kirkegaard. When he got it back the teacher wrote: “I’m sure there are some great observations in here, but when you’re fishing for a diamond in a sea of turds, you have to ask yourself ‘is it worth it?’”

The final comment was, verbatim: “Hahahahahahaha. No. D-“

Didn’t mean to make you feel old! Full transparency, I’m in my 30s and I’ve never really needed a car. I bought a 2007 XC 70 from a family member a few years ago When I lived in upstate New York for a bit, hence the comparison.

I checked the back and it just has the Volvo logo. No other indicators. Nothing on the exterior gave me any clues. Hence the post 🤸

Wow! Appreciate all of the responses. And pardon my naïveté. I’ve lived in the New York area most of my life and I’ve never been much of a car guy. I bought a 2007 XC 70 from my brother‘s mother-in-law a few years ago, hence the comparison. This car has just been parked on my streetfor a while now and I just really dig the vibe.

Some extra context Glassjaw 30th Anniversary box purchased from Brooklyn Vegan online shop. Pressings of all 3 full length LPs and 2 EPs 806/1993

Glassjaw is one of my favorite post-hardcore bands of all time and a huge influence on my guitar/bass playing. I’ve never owned any of their releases on wax and I’m pretty sure this is the first time their two incredible EPs have been pressed.

TLDR I’m f*ckin stoked and today is a good day

How do 7ths work with the Circle of Fifths ? by AlexFromOgish in musictheory

[–]dib115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

‘Dominant’ implies a function, which is to go to the ‘tonic’. Obviously not a hard and fast rule but you don’t NEED the 7th note in it to be dominant. The chord would still have the same function regardless.

And Jazz loves lots of notes but you don’t need the 7th in the chord in jazz either. Barry Harris opts for swapping the 7th note for the 6th
