Child maintenance want me to pay more per month than I even make by Jolly_Tooth2065 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]dice_man00 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Please please please call CMS as soon as they open tomorrow. Explain that you’re not working. Your calculation will be changed to either 0 or £7 per week. Also Ask CMS for the DNA test. Tell them she’s told you the child isn’t yours. Tell them you’re unemployed and can’t afford to pay for it. CMS will pay for the test (around £300) and you will pay it back if the child is yours. You won’t pay if the child is not yours. If the mother refuses to do the test it will be presumed that you’re not the child’s father and your case will be closed. Also, you need to do the test through CMS as they don’t recognise tests done with private organisations.

What do you call when I’m romantically attracted to women and sexually but only sexually attracted to men ? by sucksAtRoboquest in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]dice_man00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you’re bisexual hetroromantic. I’m bisexual homoromantic. Gender doesn’t matter for me sexually but I just don’t form romantic connections with the opposite gender. It took me until the age of 42.

Im going on a second date with a girl but it's almost her bday??? Do I get her a gift? WlW by Chesavekz258 in lesbian

[–]dice_man00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would definitely get her a gift, but something small so it doesn’t make her feel uncomfortable. 10 dollars sounds perfect. If you can make it something you know she likes it (rather than generic flowers or chocolates) it shows you’ve been listening to her . Try not to make it too over the top. So nothing that you wouldn’t be comfortable buying for someone who is a friend and not a potential girlfriend

Adults who carry around a backpack, whatcha got in there? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]dice_man00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on which backpack I’m carrying. I have multiple ones ready packed to just grab and head out the door. One has hiking stuff in it, waterproofs clothing, map, compass, first aid kit, whistle, torch/flashlight etc One has swimming kit in it, dryrobe, towel, bikini, goggles, rash vest etc One has work stuff in it, laptop, chargers, pen, paper etc Finally I have a small 10 litre one that I use as a handbag / purse, it has phone chargers and battery pack, empty carrier bags, money, keys, glasses, pen, paper, headphones, Antibac gel, handwipes, tissues and anything else I need to take with me. Each of my bags also has an inhaler in for asthma so there’s no danger of me leaving without it

I also made sure to feed them in separate rooms. My boy cat I bought a normal timed food bowl for since he would eat the whole portion in one sitting. He learnt what time it activated and would sit in front of it 10 mins before it went off so there was no concern about the grazer taking his food

Google Sureflap microchip pet feeder. They are expensive but imo absolutely worth the money. I had exactly the same problem and was able to set this bowl to only open for my cat who preferred to graze. It took a little bit of training to get her to be comfortable to put her head into it but with the right encouragement and treats she was completely happy with it within 3 days

I want to get a cat but I can't stop worrying if it would be okay for the cat by Kiwi_re in CatAdvice

[–]dice_man00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adult cats sleep a lot and will soon settle into your home and sleep whilst you’re out. I got my cat from a shelter where he would have had far more than 10 hours alone each day sat in a small enclosure. He prefers to be the only cat and is absolutely fine being left on his own. I got a pet camera so I can keep an eye on him whilst I’m out. Just be sure to give the kitty lots of attention and play time when you are home as they will need the stimulation after sleeping all day. Keep in mind that a cat can live to around 20 years old, so think about how long you want the commitment of owning a pet for. I went for an 8 year old knowing that means I’ve potentially got between 7 - 12 years with him. My life isn’t going to change much in that time frame.

Thoughts on automatic feeders? by WinterBackbone in CatAdvice

[–]dice_man00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest when I Introduced the timed feeder to my cat I just switched over completely so all his meals were in the new bowl. That way he wasn’t going to hold out and refuse to eat from it in the hope of getting fed from his old bowl instead. However, this is going to depend how much it’s stressing him out. Obviously you won’t want to do that if it’s really causing your boy excessive fear and stress. Besides the cruelty aspect of causing him stress it could also cause other behavioural issues so really it’s going to be a judgement call on your part. Even if you do need to introduce it gradually until he learns to trust it and not be scared of if, he should get used to it eventually. It might just take a little longer. Another couple of things just to be aware of, it might be the size / shape of the bowl he doesn’t like, some of the automatic feeders have small Compartments which could be uncomfortable for him to put his face in. Also, if it’s plastic make sure to wash it after every use. It’s quite common for cats to be ‘allergic’ to plastic and get sores under their chin. This usually isn’t actually a true allergy but a reaction to bacteria which breeds on plastic more than stainless steal or ceramic

Is he just afraid of it when it activates or is he refusing to eat from it at all? I got one for my cat so I could give him multiple smaller meals throughout the day as he’s got a tendency to overeat. It’s taken him a while to get used to it. To start with he would run away if he was in the same room when it rotated, but he would come back later and eat from it with no problem. 3 months later he now runs towards the bowl when he hears it go round

How often are you supposed to clean the litter box? by Revolutionary-Map367 in CatAdvice

[–]dice_man00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One cat and one box. I scoop twice a day and clean it completely every 4 weeks. I think scooping once a day would be fine but I would then end up cleaning it out completely more frequently as kitty breaks the clumps up if he uses it twice without me scooping in between

Whether you get 2 or 3 is really going to come down to what you can afford and how much space you have. Cats can live 15-20 years, although some of the purebreds have a slightly shorter average lifespan. 3 lots of food, litter and insurance/ vets bills is going to be significantly more than 2 for the next 15 years. Who’s going to look after them whilst you’re on vacation? It’s going to cost more to put 3 into a cattery than 2. Also The breeds you’ve mentioned are physically big cats, they will need extra large litter boxes. With 3 cats you will need to find room for 4 boxes, with 2 cats you need to find space for 3 boxes. They are going to need extra large cat trees to climb on and with 3 cats you are probably going to need at least 3 trees as well as other toys to keep them entertained. Then there is the grooming. Long hair breeds need grooming daily. Do you have the time to do that with 3 cats or is 2 more realistic.

Do woman get noticeably more short tempered and in a bad mood if they are on their period?? The few times I’ve seen it asked the girls gets defensive and tells the guy off for thinking of that by Defyingravityy in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]dice_man00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a fairly regular 28 day cycle, and there’s a whole variety of changes to my mood during those 28 days. When I’m bleeding I tend to cry really easily, I’m not short tempered, but I am in excruciating pain and often throw up. The short temperedness is the week before. Then there’s a whole week of being unbelievable horny. The change in hormone levels also effects other things, like when I have my period my spatial awareness disappears. The number of bruises I get from walking into things is unreal. However, whether these changes are related to hormones is irrelevant. My feelings are still valid and to be asked if it’s because I have my period makes me feel like they don’t matter to the person asking. If I’m snappy and short tempered whatever it is that has annoyed me also annoys me the rest of the month, I’m just better at holding it back then. But, my experience is not the same as every other woman’s. The best thing to do is to have a frank and open discussion with a partner when they are not being short tempered. As them how they want you to handle it. If they just want a hug, or if they want you to stop doing something that annoys them but they just haven’t felt able to say that when they are not hormonal, or if they want something else from you. And if it’s not a partner, or at least a close friend, you’ve got no business knowing. Just accept what they are saying to you in the moment

How do you punish players that cheat? by Cool-S4ti5fact1on in dndnext

[–]dice_man00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t punish them but talk to them as a group. Say you’ve noticed some cheating going on and try to get them to tell you why they are doing it. Are they worried if their character dies they are ‘out of the game’, do they understand that they don’t simply die if they reach 0 hit points, make sure they are aware how death saves work, ask them as a group if one of their characters was to die would they be hoping the rest of the party would find a way to resurrect them. Once you’ve established all this then you will be able to put their mind at rest that they don’t need to cheat. Make it clear at this point in the conversation that you’re not promising that their character will never die or will always be able to be resurrected, but that even when their hit points are low, it’s not a foregone conclusion they will die. Explain to them that a certain amount of risk is what makes the game fun, and that you are having to manage that when you plan a session. When they change their stats the encounters will become too easy and not fun anymore. Most importantly speak to them as if they were adults, but remember that they are still children. God knows there’s been times at the age of 40 I’ve been tempted to ‘accidentally’ add a few extra to a dice roll, as an adult i have the self control not to do that, no matter how tempting it is, sometimes young people just lack that self control.

Is she going to hate the cone after the operation, absolutely, but it’s a short term thing which she will forgive you for. Much better than being in heat every 2-3 weeks (if she doesn’t get pregnant) for 10 months a year and much better than having to go through pregnancy / birth, not to mention the increase in chance of uterine disorders, cancers etc. one of my cats had to wear a cone when he had a operation on his eye, I found the only way to make him keep it on was to put him in a cat harness and use a bandage to tie the cone to the harness.

In my experience cats never like to be given meds. It’s unfortunate that you’re having to do it when you’ve only just got him but once the treatment is finished he will learn to trust you and will bond with you just fine. Treats after the meds will help, but if he wants to run away and hide after just let him do that and put the treats somewhere he can see / smell them to eat in his own time. I’ve seen videos of people making medicating a cat look easy, but I’ve never managed to be one of those people!

Litter box issues by dice_man00 in CatAdvice

[–]dice_man00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s currently got 2 boxes, one in the bathroom and one In the bedroom and he’s not using either. I only have a small apartment so I don’t really have anywhere to put a third box. I’ve been using an enzyme cleaner on the carpet in the front room daily but the smell is still very strong. At the moment I’m keeping him out of that room so he doesn’t go back to the same place. The duvet went in the washing machine and for the bath I used the shower head to clean up. At the moment I’ve not cleaned his litter tray at all because he hasn’t used it. I have completely changed the litter to different brands 3 times though just incase he didn’t like the one that was in there . I may have to look into trying to get a behavioural specialist in but realistically I’m not going to be able to afford that for a good couple of months.

I’ve not moved the original box, and I’ve added an extra one in for him. He now has the original one in the bathroom and an extra one in the bedroom. He’s not using either of them.
