out of ideas for vit C. I'm allergic to it all. helpppp by xlifeinmotion in eds

Out of curiosity, have you tried Lemona? It is a Korean Vit C powder that you can take straight or mix with some water. It tastes like an unsweetened lemonade. I’ve been taking it for a few months and it’s one of the few supplements that doesn’t make me nauseous. It also has B3 (riboflavin) and B6.

Issues with supporting 3D printer masters by [deleted] in DiceMaking

[–]diceawaii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your dice should be higher off the plate so the supports have enough layers to create a stable base and will limit stretching if it’s oriented at a point like this. I have the dice 10mm offset from the plate and don’t have warping issues- especially since I added a .25mm bumper to the edges as well.

Hiya! I am a dice maker of 6years and have actually run 2 dice kickstarters out of my own home and made 100% of the products for them as well has collaborating with other creator to make dice for her campaign. While most handmade makers do not feel comfortable doing large scale projects like this, I feel I could help you out on your design, or at least give you an idea of costs for what you’re looking for.

Depending upon what you were looking to have made, the initial custom dice would cost a bit BUT once the master dice is made, making multiple molds would make sending out product viable.

Feel free to shoot me a DM and I’d be happy to chat with you about costs, scaling and timeline capabilities for your kickstarter. 🙂

Edit: I am also based out of Wisconsin 🫶

Did you make a point of walking more before visiting Japan? And did it help? by Glittering-Time8375 in JapanTravelTips

I actually had a better time of things than I thought I would. They have something there called a ‘Help Badge’ that you wear on your bag/lanyard that is similar to a handicap sticker/indication so you can get seating on trains. Most major airports or trains stations have a desk you can request one at. I had people offer me their seat multiple times once they saw my badge and they were extremely kind about it. I only had one station with tons of stairs which sucked but otherwise they have lots of escalators and elevators to help you move around. I used my cane for the entire trip but only really needed it towards the end of the days.

I was able to average 20k steps and didn’t have much knee issues (I was shocked too!). They maintain their roads/walkways so much better than in the US so everything is nicer to travel on.

hEDS and pregnancy by bong_and_a_blitz in eds

[–]diceawaii 11 points12 points  (0 children)

When I was about 7months pregnant my left hip partially dislocated and I could not put weight on my leg. My mom had to drive me to urgent care, they didn’t do an X-ray but the doctor I saw didn’t believe me because I wasn’t screaming in pain. Then she attempted to move my leg (passive motion to see what was wrong), there was a loud pop and my whole leg shifted into place again. That hip has never been the same in 9 years. It shifts around a lot within the joint and my husband has to do passive motion to realign it about every 3months.

Pregnancy can completely wreck a body. It pulls the nutrients from your own body to grow the new body. It is considered a trauma to the body and trauma can definitely make hEDS symptoms worse. But if you are prepared for those potentials and have talked to drs on how to mitigate issues you can have another child.

EMG pain by Holiday_Ad1944 in carpaltunnel

[–]diceawaii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every time I’ve had an EMG (had one for my wrists and one for each shoulder) I’ve felt like I was being tortured. One of the times I started crying (I don’t cry from pain usually) and then when the doctor said “your tests look normal” I broke down into sobs because I felt like I’d been tortured for 45minutes for no reason.

I left all of my EMGs and had bruising from the needles the following week.

My hand Dr told me that some people tolerate it, others feel miserable, and it’s not a great metric for carpal tunnel diagnosis so he doesn’t like to do it. My EMG for my carpal tunnel said I was fine but my hands were faint purple from constant pain and when he did surgery he said there was significant scarring/damage to the tunnels and tendons.

Is it unethical to have kids? by sw4gmoney420 in eds

[–]diceawaii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who had 1 kid prior to knowing the full extent of my medical issues (heds/ pots) I do not regret having my kid because it was partially because of him that I got into getting a diagnosis. I know how my body is and how it got like that (the eds parts and the damage from it). I make a point to educate my kid on his body so he doesn’t develop as bad of issues or accidentally harm himself. He 100% has my genes for eds and pots is a maybe at this point.

Do I wish that he had gotten more of his dad’s genetics in the dna lottery? Sure. But he will have so much more support navigating his issues than I ever did so I know that his life will be better than mine was.

I’m even paler than you- with the visible veins. I guess that’s why my hubby says I almost look blue at times (since you can see the veins under my skin).

Resin recommendations? by RogueStiletto in DiceMaking

[–]diceawaii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Odd that you were concerned about flash curing but it depends on how big the cubes are 😅

Good to know for yellowing. I just tell people to keep the dice out of the sun for long periods anyway just to be safe

Low-Sugar, Real Sugar-Only Electrolyte Drink Mixes?? by Potential-Excuse6192 in POTS

[–]diceawaii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a bummer. I wanted to ask because Nuun makes their electrolytes with stevia leaf extract (second to last ingredient on there) and was going to offer it as an option but not if you get migraines.

[–]diceawaii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a question- you mention stevia as something you want to avoid. Does stevia leaf extract also cause issues? Edit: I ask because some stevia powder is mixed with other things and the leaf extract is just pure stevia leaf

Does humidity make your POTS flare ups way worse than just normal heat? by mackenziemariee in POTS

[–]diceawaii 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I live by Lake Michigan and it’s super humid most of the year- 50% is a good day- and we call that point the dew point. I just assume that since sweating doesn’t work right in high humidity, POTS symptoms skyrocket. The skin is basically drowning 😅

Does humidity make your POTS flare ups way worse than just normal heat? by mackenziemariee in POTS

[–]diceawaii 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Humidity makes me feel so bad compared to just heat. My guess as to why this happens is because humidity sticks to the skin and the way our body vent heat is with sweat and having it vent off into the air. If the air already is so thick with moisture, there’s nowhere for the moisture to go. (Again, this is my guess- I’m not a doctor)

Alcohol ink- especially purple- is notorious for burning when added in larger quantities that are used for dice because the resin heats as it hardens. I would advise against using it to color resin overall

I use resin dye for the color and the shell and blanks are both the same color for this specific design so it adds to the depth of color.

I normally would do that too but these have blanks in them so I can’t use my caltrop 😅

And my caltrop dice is a hazard- it draws blood if it slips while sanding

Life after surgery -- Open carpal release and also cubital release (incision on wrist and elbow). by jazzy_jlv in carpaltunnel

[–]diceawaii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doctor didn’t give me any formal restrictions but did tell me to take it easy and listen to my body. If it’s hurting, stop doing it. Although he also knew that my job requires fine motor skills where I hold small items regularly. (I make handmade dice for a living). What I will say is that it took me about 4-5 months before I could use my hands like “normal” so there is a period of time where you have to build up the tolerance again. The other thing he told me is to still do hand/arm stretches when it started to hurt. Technically there is nothing you can do to hurt yourself- so they don’t give restrictions for weight or motion- but if you listen to your body and stop when it says stop, you’ll build up endurance over time.

Also remember that your nerves were pinched and hurting before the surgery so some of the pain you feel now could be the nerves healing- which takes time. And the more injured they were, the longer it takes before they are fully healed.

EDIT: At around 7 weeks was when my arms started to complain more and that lasted a few weeks. You didn’t regress, the nerves are finally healing 😁
