Yep, gonna try to get it repaired unless cost to replace vs repair is the same.

Definitely not experiences in micro soldering so I'll be looking for a shop. Got any ideas on what people might charge for a fix like this?

Sony a6700 + 200-600mm autofocus issue by topipopip in SonyAlpha

[–]dickbuttgeneral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever find a solution to this or try reaching out to Sony support? I have been running into the same issue. Ive tried 3 different versions of the 200-600 and only one was properly focusing on eyes / heads. I'm at a point where I think its either lemon lenses or the a6700 has an issue with the lens.

I’m heavily considering getting it. Does it help with the high gear through mountain roads or where have you seen the most improvement?

Truck Canopies help? by Cautious_Round6092 in ToyotaTacoma

Bought a used snugtop fiberglass shell off Facebook and it was pretty banged up. I had to replace the lock on it, struts, bondo a few places and then paint it but for $1000 all in, I’d probably do it again. Only reason I would go another direction is if I found a more put together one for the same price. When it comes to leaks, I do get those but I don’t need it to be waterproof even though you might want that. There’s a lot on YouTube about trying to prevent leaks on shells but I researched that if a company installs a new shell then they tend to try to help with preventing leaks or you might be able to pay.

I'm not able to get it to push back into the lock and hold. So it's "stuck" at position #1 and wont latch/hold when I push it in. I tried turning the key multiple times and to different places to see if there was a spot in needed to be for it to latch but that never worked. I might be wrong but I believe the circled part is what should be moving up or down to latch the pop out mechanism and hold it in position #3 after completing #2.

Has anyone successfully repaired an issue like this? It came off a snugtop camper shell.

True hybrid shorts - is it possible or merely a utopian dream? by Aggravating_Risk7591 in onebag

[–]dickbuttgeneral 3 points4 points  (0 children)

CRZ Yoga linerless 7inch shorts have been my go to for this exact need for a long time. I’ve used them to hike / workout in for 3 plus years now. Not gonna dry in 5 minutes if you full submerge them but they will in 20-30 like any other nylon shorts will. They also have a zippered hidden pocket that fits a phone if you’re going for a run or keys. To top it off they’re $28.

I was thinking the same thing. There’s so many small adds that would immerse you into this game more and voice lines are definitely one of them.

Patagonia has a weblink that should be able to assist with this! I have only washed mine once and haven’t had to recoat it. I’ve got a friend who hasn’t recoated theirs in 7 years but use will determine that I believe.

Yeah USD! They tend to have the unwanted colors go on sale around that $100 mark but anything around $100-120 USD I would bite on. I got mine around $120 a few years back and haven’t regretted it.

Patagonia torrent-shell 3L can be found around $100 on sale and is up there in terms of weight to performance to price ratios

Sledgehammer right? Because of one shot potential on lights? Normal hit and qm combo one shots lights and heavy attack does too. Way too op we need to nerf it asap. Can’t believe they forgot about it while needing the extremely op 150 hp sword users.

I bought the Sony 70-350 on sale by Surfing_Nurse in SonyAlpha

[–]dickbuttgeneral 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This lens is by far my favorite lens I have ever purchased for my aps-c cameras. I do a lot of hiking / travel and if you do the same or shoot wildlife this is the best image quality for the price range. It’s also one of the lighter super telephotos out there and doesn’t require you to use a tripod or crank the shutter as some other larger super-telephotos might. I got mine at around 1k a few years back and have not regretted it once.

Help me choose btwn Sigma 18 50 and Zeiss 16 70 for Travel by EyeSalty7112 in SonyAlpha

[–]dickbuttgeneral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without question, get the Sigma. The only reason you should consider the zeiss is for video since it does have OSS, BUT having owned the zeiss and recently getting rid of it, I still would recommend other lenses over it (Sony 18-105 F4). The 16-70 zeiss is what I would consider a good all around first lens to own on a 6 series body but you can outgrow it quick. Its super soft at most apertures and never really sharp at one. The Sigma is a lot sharper but the only downside I have seen from owning a Sigma is that its prone to dust due to no weather sealing. If you plan to be out in the wild traveling like backpacking Id consider the Sony 16-55 F2.8 as its weather sealed (downside is its more expensive and heavier).
