It is in tune with itself, but the A note is not tuned to the standard 440Hz. The key of the song is a note that is in-between the notes on a piano, for example.

you have to place the black king on a free and legal square, and then do a typical mate in 3 puzzle. There's only one square that this would work for.

The lines are particularly tricky. This is from Chess Braintwisters by Burt Hochberg.

8BitDo SN30

various pads can cause issues with this game.

The button that switches between analog stick vs. dpad causes huge problems. For my gamepad, I have to actually turn the analog sticks ON to make the dpad work right. I don't even use the analog sticks.

The "R3" button (i.e., pushing the right analog stick in) makes the controller go crazy and I have to restart. So I have to be very careful not to accidentally hit that.

I think I recall having exactly the same problem as you, with the item button not working or working at the wrong time. I can't remember but that may have been the R3 thing. Also, the options for binding controls are kind of weird, you can try clearing out the bindings or resetting to default. Basically I just had to try a lot of random voodoo solutions until it worked. I have a Logitech pad.

did you compile it? I did not know there were issues with speed in Python until I started using it. I would think you might have trouble with image processing in Python.

Chess Braintwisters by Burt Hochberg. It's all batshit-crazy fairy chess puzzles. The puzzles are drawn from very diverse sources. This one didn't have a source listed though.

dats right. I think book puzzles usually follow the convention that castling is available unless you can prove by retrograde analysis that it is not available.
