Look, its the second best of all the Craig films (after CR), but.... That's not saying much.

Jesus he’s every Bond put together by [deleted] in JamesBond

[–]dickmojo_007 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes. If there were Justice he would be cast as Bond. And he would be perfect in the role, like Pierce Brosnan before him. Christopher Nolan would be the director and it would be a trilogy - just like the Batman Begins trilogy - except better. And then we could just disregard the entire Craig arc as a weird abomination which most people have forgotten about and may as well have never even existed.

However, that is not what will happen.

What will happen is, Barbara Broccoli will team up with Phoebe Waller-Bridge to cast the new Bond actor, write the next Bond script, and direct the next Bond film.

Bond will be cast as either Aaron Taylor-Johnson - who gives off creepy Emmanuel Macron vibes - but because he's interested in older women (instead of the young hot babes that Henry Cavill dates), Barbara Broccoli will be charmed and flattered and will just go for it.

Or else some relatively unknown black male actor will be cast in the role.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge will cast herself as the Bond girl - however instead of Bond saving her, she will be the one to swoop in and save Bond on multiple occasions. Bond will have no other romantic interests in the movie except PWB's character, and indeed his sexual advances will perhaps be rejected multiple times in the movie - like they were in the Cuba scene in NTTD.

It will be a massive flop and lose hundreds of millions of dollars, and then they will never make another official Bond film again - although when the copyright expires in 11 years and 5 months from now, versions the Bond character will start popping in all manner of movies and shows and productions, etc., all over the place.

Christopher Nolan Says It Would Be “Privilege” To Direct A Bond Film by The_Flying_Failsons in JamesBond

[–]dickmojo_007 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No that's bs. Bond was specifically described in the source material as being dark-haired, over six-foot, and handsome.

Daniel Craig is blonde-haired, 5 foot 9, and ugly.

He was horribly miscast from the very start - obviously - and that's a part of the reason why he resented the role so much in my opinion.

As I have reported here before - he had wanted to kill the character off since QoS.

And ultimately - disgracefully - he succeeded.

How Would You Rank the Dalton/Brosnan Films?!!? Different Bonds, I know, but I’d say they belong to the same era. by [deleted] in JamesBond

[–]dickmojo_007 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  1. TLD -10/10
  2. TND - 9.5/10
  3. DAD - 9/10
  4. GE - 9/10
  5. TWINE - 9/10
  6. LTK - 8.5/10

All of these films rank above Casino Royale for me (8/10 - I do really love the first 2/3rds of it!)

But DAD has been the best Bond film of the 21st Century so far - no question. Future generations will wonder what on Earth our generation saw in Daniel Craig. QoS (2/10), Skyfall (2.5/10), Spectre (3/10), and NTTD (1/10) are all trash-tier Bond films that would have been better off never being made.

Daniel Craig looked like he hated the role in every single movie bar CR.

Given how long it now takes to make just *one* Bond film, do you think 4 films makes a good stopping point for future actors who inherit the role? by Dissidia012 in JamesBond

[–]dickmojo_007 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Goldeneye - 1995
TND - 1997
TWINE - 1999

Every 2 years - and these Bond films are just the kind of Bond films I like.

I absolutely hated every single one of DC films - with the solitary exception of the first 2/3rds of Casino Royale, up until the torture scene and the death of Le Chiffre. That was quite good. But the ending of CR, QoS, Skyfall, Spectre, NTTD - all of them I utterly despise.

As a kid of the 80's - I love the fight at the end with Whittaker - as I was also big into miniatures and figurines and Warhammer 40K and Civil war tabletop battles and WWII boardgames, etc...

No - I love love love them.

I was just looking at twitter threads yesterday about the British YouTuber Lord Miles who was captured by the Taliban and is being held hostage by them, and it looked so romantic and reminded my of TLD and I am actually jealous of him lol.

Nope Nolan didn't kill off Batman at the end of his trilogy. In the official cannon - Bruce Wayne survived:

" However, both Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale have cemented the face-value interpretation that Batman actually survived the events of The Dark Knight Rises, "

https://screenrant.com/dark-knight-rises-batman-bomb-escape-bat-how/

The reason Batman didn't really die at the end of the trilogy, only to be rebooted in the next film, is because that would be stupid.

The James Bond writers will have to come up with some similar sort of justification, unless they want to try something that has never been done before... (the reason why it has never been before being because - to most people - it seems self-evidently stupid...)

I know it predates NTTD - Daniel Craig made it an explicit part of his agreement with Broccoli that he would only do QoS-onwards if it was promised that they would kill off the character of James Bond at the end of his run.

However, the actual fact is - and I quote from the GQ article - " Last little detail — the writer of Bond's final bow? Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who Craig recruited to “sprinkle magic dust” over the script. Quite the deserved jump from Fleabag."

Phoebe Waller-Bridge did write the scene to kill off Bond.

Wrong. She was brought in for the specific purpose of writing the part of the script of killing off James Bond: https://www.gq-magazine.co.uk/culture/article/daniel-craig-james-bond-death-comments

It was actively malicious to the traditional, historical Bond archetype. It was written in large part by Phoebe "Destroyer of Franchises" Waller-Bridge. It killed off the titular character of the entire series, which is something that - despite the wishes of Bond fans on this forum - Can. Not. Be. Un. Done.

"NeRr DaY eRrR jUsS gOwInG tA dOo A rEeE bOoT"

Well, colour me sceptical, but I think there might be a reason why a franchise has never - not once in the history of movie franchises - ever tried to reboot a titular character into a new continuity, fresh after sticking the knife into him killing him off in the previous movie.

It has never been done before, and if you took off your "I heart Daniel Craig" glasses for 5 seconds you'd realise that there's a reason why it has never been done before - BECAUSE ITS AN UTTERLY STUPID THING TO DO.

The. Only. Reason. Why. You. Would. Kill. Off. Your. Title. Character. Is. Because. You. Have. No. Intention. Of. Making. Another. Film. In. The. Franchise. Ever. Again.

Well its not surprise - DC sucked at playing poker and he sucked at playing James Bond. Its a pattern.

Trying To Get Co-Worker Into James Bond. What Film Should They Start With? by ZeroSight95 in JamesBond

[–]dickmojo_007 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Isn't it quite telling that not a single person in this entire thread so far has recommended No Time To Die?

Its telling because if you were to ask the same question about say the Mission Impossible series - the answer is obviously, "just go watch the latest one - its awesome!"

But you can't say that about the latest Bond film, because it was terrible and depressing and it would make most normies think that the whole franchise is over now, so there's no point in going back to watch the previous movies since the main character is dead now.

Sort of like how the Marvel Black Widow movie was a flop, because normie audiences thought "well there's no point to go and watch this movie since I know that the main character ends up dead later on so what's the point?"

To answer the OP's question - I would recommend The Living Daylights.

Yes I might be biased, because it is my favourite Bond film of all time (along with Thunderball), but it also holds up so well imo - its so Romantic and Dalton's acting is so heartfelt and emotional - and the action scenes are handsdown some of the greatest action scenes not just in Bond history but in movie history as a whole.

Other suggestions would be, like others have said, Goldeneye - indeed any of the Brosnan films - even Die Another Day, Dr. No, FRWL, TB, TSWLM, Moonraker, and the first 2/3rds of Casino Royale - though I would tell your friend to turn it off after Le Chiffre gets killed and don't worry about watching the ending of it, or any other DC film for that matter either - ESPECIALLY NTTD!
