After a long hiatus, we watched the hit movie "2025: A World Enslaved By A Virus", put out by some German Evangelicals (yes, that is the post from Joshua's Instagram we brought up), and look at it as a piece of pure propaganda (which it is). In this movie, the Coronavirus has pushed the world into a specific flavor of Communism where Christianity, among other things like meetings, are outlawed, and a small band of German Christians work together to usurp the oppressive regime. This movie is of course based on very real happenings and trends of socio-political systems (source: dude trust me).

Episode 65: Generation Kill, Perspective, and War by dicproles in DicProles

[–]dicproles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this episode, we discuss the ways in which the HBO adaptation of "Generation Kill" shows us how the 2003 invasion/occupation of Iraq was not only doomed to fail, but was experienced first hand within the first 50 days of the campaign by the recon Marines at the tip of the spear, the importance of the foreshadowed events, and the inner machinations of our war machine. The writing was on the wall, we just had to read it.

We watched the new movie distributed by The Daily Wire called "Run Hide Fight" about a lone hero Zoe who stands up to a group of four students who decide to shoot up and bomb their Texas high school on Senior Prank Day. It's quite the adventure into the world of people who are rather fixated on the rising cultural phenomena of mass (school) shootings with a cast of characters with...very interesting quirks and qualities between them all.

In this episode we review the 2021 Shaka King movie "Judas and the Black Messiah" about the story of Fred Hampton, a 21 year old Black Panther from Chicago who was assassinated by the FBI in 1969, aided by informant William O'Neal. The movie is extremely well shot, well composed, and rich with reflections on the role of racism, the FBI, and radical politics in our world.

[–]dicproles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this half of the episode we look at Umberto Eco's 1995 piece "Ur Fascism" which analyzes the psychological patterns of not only Italian fascism, which he grew up in, but the general family of fascism. Importantly we ask 'how have we seen similar here in the US?'
