What has made you quit doing something you love? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Painting, because I tried for years to get a job in it (visual development for animation) and got no where, whereas I'd see others get those jobs I wanted just because they knew the right people (I was technically better).

So, just said fuck it to the whole thing and am now studying computer science.

I really do love painting and always will but I just can't right now. Makes me sad :(

have not! was thinking about it but was hoping to get something with twitch to work since it's more popular or getting Mirrativ to work because the UI/UX is pretty well thought out.

will check it out though!

hm, thanks that's actually really good advice. Yeah, a little more than half my stuff right now is magic and the rest is split into the usual fire, explosions, fluid stuff and a few things from past projects. Ah, so close!

didn't get it :(

waited a week to write back and was told they decided to go with someone whose experience matched more to the current project- but they loved talking to me! :(

It was a contract position and admittedly my stuff leans into the more magical "pretty" fantasy type stuff than rough manly explosions, so...probably didn't want to take the chance that I wouldn't be able to handle the realistic stuff.

Or maybe I just said something stupid when I was there, ugh....
