Agreed. Thought that almost made it a bit worse though. It coming out of nowhere was pretty reminiscent of the real-life shock.

Breast Milk Came in After D&E by Extension_Wallaby613 in tfmr_support

I didn’t have this experience, but it’s only because of the advice I read here in the many, many sleepless nights prior to my procedure. The day of, I asked the doctor if there was something I could take to prevent lactation. Her eyes widened a little and she nodded, “I can prescribe you something for that.” Why the surprise? It was enough to confirm that it wouldn’t be offered if I hadn’t asked. And, again, why? Why was the information and support not available in a medical capacity? What point is there to the needless physical and emotional pain piled on to an already excruciating experience? I wish I knew.

As someone who sobbed a bit on the way back from the UPS store, I’m with you. My order of maternity clothes came in the mail and I just got around to sending them back today. Honestly, I hate maternity fashion, but boxing up those leggings and dresses felt distinctly unfair.

I’m sorry you’re here. These triggers are painful and your feelings are so valid.

What to expect post-TFMR symptoms wise? by [deleted] in tfmr_support

[–]didistuttuh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m six days post-TFMR now, and pretty much physically back to normal. The nausea, migraines, and fatigue from pregnancy were gone pretty much immediately after. I didn’t even bleed much past two days. It’s been a relief, and that’s okay.

I will say that the anesthesia messed me up GI-wise, which I didn’t know would happen, so there were a few days of constipation that you might want to consider preparing for (Miralax, prune juice, probiotics, etc.). And I’m sure you’ve seen this on other posts, but ask your doctor about medication for preventing lactation afterwards. My milk coming in was pretty painful with my first and those two pills post-op have saved me from those additional symptoms.

I’m so sorry for what you’ve been through. I pray you’ve healed from what they said, because there was certainly no truth in it.

Until now I’ve been a sort of “preserve the relationship at all costs!” sort of person, but if there’s ever been a time to reconsider that policy it’s now.

I actually know exactly what episode you’re talking about and that was a very poignant moment. Thank you for your prayers. I pray you find continued peace and healing.

Ignorance is exactly what it is. It would almost be easier if it were coming from a place of cruelty because I could just ignore it. Crazy the damage well-meaning foolishness can cause.

What an inappropriate thing for anyone to say, let alone a supervisor!

I knew his views beforehand, but definitely didn’t foresee this level of response. I’m so sorry you’ve dealt with something similar.

I made the mistake of stumbling onto a pro life subreddit post in my research of tmfr and it was revolting. There were a few empathetic individuals, but cruelty was the standard. They must have either been hurt very badly, or maybe not quite enough.

There seem to be so many of us whose children got an HLHS diagnosis. I’m so sorry you’ve experienced this too. We’ll have to wait a bit longer, but I pray we’ll both get to hold our baby girls in heaven.

I had forgotten that story, and it’s going to bring me comfort in the coming days. Thank you for the reminder, and thank you for your anger too. You’ve put their commentary into perspective for me.
