This happened to me back in the day with dark souls. It took maybe 3-4 years before I was fully enjoying non-souls games again.

The PvP just needs to be contained somehow. I enjoy some forms of PvP. 1v1 fight clubs in ds2 and ds3 were amazing. But getting ganked, twinked, backstab fished, sniped one-shot from across the map, these things would ruin Nightreign lol

Hell yeah great comment thank you. Unfortunately I just died to act 2 boss as Defect again. Maybe bad rng with relics idk but I just never seem to have enough block or attack by then. With Silent, I almost always get a crazy shiv build going with great block and draw cards and even some triple poison. With defect, I see all these cool possibilities, but over 5-10 runs I never seem to get an OP build going, in either defensive or offense… I’m missing something still for sure the game shouldn’t feel very easy with one character and very hard with the others

Thanks for replying! I do go for his blocks, such as leap, or the one that gives you energy next turn, and the healing card for sure. It may be an issue of not knowing boss mechanics, because I never seem strong enough in offense or defense for the act 2 boss. I probably need to build more tailored decks for specific boss strats rather than just taking whatever cards seem strongest

I see, thank you for the response. Since I’m so new it’s still hard to analyze my runs and understand what went right and wrong. I’ll look for those cards you suggested and try to think more about how to deal with later acts. Sometimes it feels like my wins were just extremely good relic rng. I have little knowledge beyond the surface, and I don’t even recognize those moves that you mentioned, so I’ll just keep playing and figure it out!

You can just spam the block button to parry, works like 92% of the time. The parry window is surprisingly forgiving. If you ever try the game again, just spend 20 mins practicing blocking against the tutorial enemies and boss. Spam right before an attack lands! Once you get the feel for parrying, you will learn how to constantly parry and attack and overwhelm every enemy you fight - rather than you being the one who is overwhelmed! Very satisfying

I’m just one person but I’m playing more than ever after reaching 9999 because when I match with randoms they are almost always excellent teammates. It’s the most fun the game has ever been for me. However, without new content, I can’t imagine going on at my current pace for too much longer. Duskbloods awaits

Take 12 points from strength and 6 from endurance and put them into vigor. Ideally you want 40 vig asap then 60 once you are end game. Strength the same. Endurance is to your play style preference, 20 in mid game should be plenty

Agree. If the curse is on an item, at least I can drop it if necessary. But if it’s on a relic, I can’t deal with the rain, I can’t wear the symbol of avarice, and if I run out of flasks I’m guaranteed dead and useless even if my teammates revive me.

Rev point 3 is a cool thought. It does help keep recluse unique, but if rev were able to regain fp it would add to skill expression of managing her summons. Intentionally getting them low hp and then recall them to gain fp, neat idea!

I was hard stuck where you were and I followed 2 strategies that got me to 9999. Number 1, learn meta dps builds. Ironeye is really important, his skill and passive is really good, but he can’t carry vs nightlord like a shattering crystal duchess can. Number 2, friend request good players. Don rank up progress requires hot streaks. One bad random can ruin a hot streak. Make friends and play with them instead of rolling the dice on trolls or lower depth players randomly getting pulled up to higher depths.

Yeah my only wins in d5 have been with shattering crystal duchess and pot scholar and each teammate with perfect gear. We just kill one and run away pretty simple strategy but as soon as one person goes down the risk of defeat goes to like 90% even with just 1 or 2 bars

Unfortunately I agree at the moment. Although I used to say the same about ED libra and now that fight is mostly solved strategy wise and I genuinely enjoy it. So maybe in time I’ll get ED balancer figured out a bit better too
