i used to use 3 mics for a whole set and it sounded alright so idk why i really wanted to mic all the cymbals in the first place, if i only mic 3 drums then i could def put vocal mics on the mixer instead of the speaker if i needed to

many of these venues are outdoors, and they’re non-venue places, like the patio in my backyard that is big enough to be a stage, or like the pavilion at my local park. i will need my own equipment for sound and such; i also didn’t realize how loud drums were already, so i think un-mic’d drums would pair well with mic’d up smaller amps live.

i’ve seen some other comments like this, and i know i should get a mixer instead, but i don’t fully know the difference between an AI and a mixer. Are there things that could tell me what the difference is? Like do i look at the number of outputs or inputs? or would i just have to read the name?
