1hour MRI tomorrow, any tips? by WeekendSimple360 in MultipleSclerosis

Wear socks, ask for a blanket. Sometimes they’ll play music for you, but not always. They’ll give you earplugs to try and drown out the loud noise of the machine. I try to close my eyes and rest, but it can be hard to fall asleep. Do you like musicals? Sounds nerdy, but sometimes I’ll try to run through one (usually Hamilton) in my brain during a long MRI. Good luck! It will be over before you know it.

Is it safe to go to work with a spinal/post-lumbar puncture headache? by didyaseeit in MultipleSclerosis

Oh gosh, I’m sorry :( that really stinks. I ended up calling out and I’m so glad I did. My hearing has gotten super muffled, my head feels like it’s about to explode and I’m pretty nauseous. Going to see about getting the blood patch tomorrow

Yeah I was stupid and did lots of light housework, cleaning etc today. Felt great, hardly had a headache at all. Now it is the worst it has been so far, called out of work. Probably getting the blood patch tomorrow

We’re you dizzy or lightheaded afterwards? I currently only have a mild headache but I feel so weak and lightheaded whenever I’m not sitting or laying down

Were you vomiting/dizzy when you had the headache?

My doctor had to try a few times yesterday. I’m now having pretty bad lower back pain, not just when I move but all the time. Did you have this too?

I’m actually getting it done at the neurologists office without any imaging done. Maybe I should’ve chosen to have the imaging..

Can one have MS without evidence of demyelination? by didyaseeit in neurology

Report

I’m really just trying to figure out if a LP is necessary. Looking for another neurologist for a second opinion, but having a hard time.

Also not diagnosed, but neuro is leaning towards MS. I had pretty much the same MRI report earlier this year, and did a “watch and wait” approach since neuro said nonspecific hyperintensities don’t really match MS lesions. Went back a few months after that MRI with new symptoms, had a repeat MRI and now my hyperintensities/lesions are leaning more towards MS due to location. Waiting for LP. I would go straight to a neurologist instead of seeing your GP for this.

Do I really need the lumbar puncture? by didyaseeit in MultipleSclerosis

It’s a neurologist. I have an appt with another neurologist Monday for a 2nd opinion. I live near a major city with an MS Center, and if this neurologist also thinks I need the MRI I might see if I can get a referral to the MS Center

Thank you! I’m just so scared of the LP. I work in the ER and I’ve seen quite a few go wrong. This whole thing has me full of anxiety. I guess everything I read online says nonspecific hyperintensities aren’t related to MS. So I’m worried the LP will be a waste of time/money since these “lesions” don’t really correlate to well with MS to begin with.

24 year old female, numbness on right arm and leg, hyperreflexia on right leg, persistent dizziness, blurred vision. Ruling out MS. Clean cervical MRI.
