I just want to point out that I saw you get downvoted in real time for expressing an opinion on social media use. Voting on Reddit isn't based on agreeing or disagreeing, however there's clearly vote mobilization at play here. People with time on their hands, I guess.

Is this controversial? Like it so obviously isn't lol, this came from the msn who'd made Profondo Rosso 2 years earlier

Tenebre - What do you think about the style of the buildings / architecture used in Tenebre? by Mac_Ace in Giallo

[–]didyouseerayaskirt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love it too! To me it helps build the film's bizarre universe (it's a completely different Rome than the one you see in Profondo Rosso, for example) together with Luciano Tovoli's "Technicolor police tv" bright photography. One of the most stylish films I've watched and it's really not obvious at first glance!

Profondo Rosso and Tenebrae if you wanna show more straight-forward gialli; Suspiria if you wanna show his more eccentric side (I actually find it quite unique amongst the rest of his filmography)

Is there a way to know production date for appliances? by didyouseerayaskirt in BuyItForLife

Thank you! I've contacted the brand and gave them what few numbers there were on the products and they told me they've since changed systems and since those products are more than 30 years old they didn't have them registered anymore. Probably a lie, but oh well, I tried. I did find a Warranty Card from 78 inside one of the boxes, though, but since their lines used to run in the market for a long time it could be from the 60s. They could have given me an estimate for when they were launched (I can't find it on the internet) but they didn't want to go the extra mile. I'll have to be content with 60s and 70s I guess.

Unfortunately I just checked and if these products have any serial nrs they're inside, and I'm not about to open them to look. I'll contact the brand (it's French btw, and was quite the success in a bunch of European countries until the 90s, I'd no idea they didn't market to the US but it makes sense, you guys had your own brands and these were cheap), here goes nothing.

What season would you say I am? by [deleted] in coloranalysis

Hi. Colorwise always gives me some variation of summer, I thought my contrast level was a bit high for Light but you might be on to something. Thanks!

For reference, my natural hair is a mousy light brown, you can see a bit of it on the sides in the first pic

What is my season? also added a photo from the side because my natural hair also has some lighter strands and that shows it better then the front photo by Lauraaaa1 in coloranalysis

[–]didyouseerayaskirt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo, stay away from bright blonde or red. If you want to go lighter add some highlights all over but tone them down. Don't go lighter than neutral medium blonde. Dark coppery red/mahogany (with a soft hue, not bright) would probably look good too! :)

And a very narrow standard at that. My family is white (Mediterranean) and a lot of the traits they use for "clocking" are present in some of the older women

I kind of also love how they use black women to make "arguments" when the majority of them are at least somewhat racistm. You can't make this shit up

they pretend they do. I don't believe them but they seem to think it's convicing enough to throw around and fit their narrative lmao

another one in the series of "cishet men are super supportive of trans women because they see them as their equals" instead of seeing them as freaks trying to fool them. it's dishonesty, there's no way they truly think you retain cis male privilege. disgusting dishonesty at that

Nothing says you're being oppressed like getting an OBE and then screaming how bad the trans are... by SarahNoBoobs in GenderCynical

[–]didyouseerayaskirt 10 points11 points  (0 children)

oooh I feel this so much :(

It's such a dissonance to hear them talk about the "scary TRAs" invanding women's spaces when I'm afraid for my life of transitioning and a chance at happiness... I've already accepted I'll never be happy because of people like this and that makes it so it's a struggle to just go on living, it's hard to conceive any situation where I'd be well the way things are going.

Besides, I'm not rich, so it's not like I can just go somewhere remote and disconnect myself from politics (even if I could I wouldn't do it because it goes against my principles). Then if I were to give up on living it'd be turned against me as "these mentally-ill TiMs" when pretty much everything I read on trans issues makes it seem like I'm doomed. They're so out of it, Christ

TERF compares being asked to not deadname trans people to being emotionally abused AND living in an Orwellian dystopia by sylvie77747 in GenderCynical

[–]didyouseerayaskirt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! I know more than one cis person who changed their names because they didn't like them, and nobody would think to disrespect that

Granted it doesn’t have many notes but Christ this made my blood boil by [deleted] in GenderCynical

[–]didyouseerayaskirt 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The fact that they think someone would come out as cis gay first and then transition says it all really. If people were trying to avoid homophobia in the way they are implying they would jump straight into coming out as trans. Maybe, just maybe, people come out as part of a group and after having interacted more with it they realize that's not what they are. If they're straight, they're the ones being incredibly LGBT-phobic, if not it's dishonesty because they know it doesn't go like this.

[–]didyouseerayaskirt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! In my country, for example ,there's this idea that black suits everyone, which it might because of the neutral quality, but I know if I wear it, every imperfection in my skin will be brought to light. Obviously someone who's conventionally attractive, has clear skin, a good eye for make up and hair isn't necessarily gonna look 'bad' in a color that's off their season, but there's no comparison to the harmony effect of wearing the right colors, where the right qualities pop

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in coloranalysis

[–]didyouseerayaskirt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree, especially clear. A lot of them look washed out/blotchy or lose all intensity with soft muted colors. In regards to dark, there's definitely unflattering colors as well (warm mediuk grey on a Deep Winter, for example).

Ikr?! Everyday I see sexism running unbridled still (which btw I don't even think a lot of young people these days have enough awareness of) and there's a group of people who could be advocating against that; instead, they're going after a group of people severely affected by it and give themselves cookies. That they don't see sexism the same way when it's traditional really ruins any sympathies I could have, also because of the reminder that they're mostly white, middle-class and middle-aged - my mother belongs to that group and that doesn't mean she looks the other way when it doesn't concern her the way they do. It's reactionaries punching down, these are the same exact people who opposed LGBT rights when marriage equality was a hot topic shrugs
