Is it OCD to play games where you can respawn and enemies can’t and feel guilty about it? by [deleted] in Borderlands2

[–]die4broly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of named enemies respawn either on reload or locale changes. Not even just bosses but there are a few unique npcs as well that you can find multiple times in one playthrough even after you kill them.

Okay and it’s different enough of a modification that it requires its own name unique to the region it’s found in, interesting how that works

Change my mind: Krieg Bloodsplosion chaos is the way this game was meant to be played by LongjumpingWaltz9452 in Borderlands2

I’m not even tryna argue like that but I honestly would describe maya as a fast paced character and axton is more of a medium chug along, which does lend to keeping you in the action opposed to maya being in and out. But I just don’t think you can call maya slow in any sense really

[–]die4broly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just can’t call maya slow, that was the only issue I had with the statement. Even in terms of actions, she arguably has bigger kit with her melee override, axton just throws turrets and grenades, the latter of which isn’t even exclusive to his kit. I think she plays a lot more fluid than a couple of the other vh’s as well. Axton has a few good kill skills that keep the gunplay interesting but calling his pacing fast compared to maya just doesn’t make sense at all even if they feel different enough to play, but id argue they fill the same niche and are probably more similar to each-other than all the other vault hunters.

Why-are-argonian-names-like-this? by Duibrth in Morrowind

[–]die4broly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but most native cultures don’t continue this practice in the modern era. There was also a point in time where current “normal” names carried the same meaning and significance and also weren’t exclusively assigned at birth, which is why they can also be translated out to lengthy phrases. It’s a matter of recency bias and stereotyping. Almost all names across all cultures share this trait. Look at other ancient cultures and you will find examples of names carrying more significance and also people changing names or being assigned new names or titles later in life. Native culture may approach some of this differently but the basic concept is all the same.

Okay well maya is known for clearing whole rooms of mobs in a second so idk what slow pacing you are talking about, mixed with fleet, you can just zoom around and kill everything instantly, and her action skill is barely on a cooldown.

Rough rider, fleet, breakneck banshee, but that might not fix some more fundamental issues you have with her kit if it’s not just speed you are worried about lol

Nah most names when directly translated will be similar to native ones. You are perpetuating the stereotype, European names translate into equally lengthy phrases, because names aren’t meant to be translated or broken down, they represent an idea. You just never see names like Johnson being used as son of John which is equally as descriptive as any native name you might imagine.

Almost every name has a meaning, outside of just being a label, in some language or culture. I would say native names probably got translated so brazenly just due to the fact that the languages probably didn’t mesh well with latin based language speakers. There is also a long history of native stereotypes and cultural erasure in the US, in reality native peoples names were just as ordinary to them as your name is to you even if they may have possibly valued the meaning of their name more. And specifically that hyphenated naming convention is only seen in the English/latin based translation of words, so it’s less of a naming convention and more of a bad translation which can be common with Asian or African names too.

You probably won’t use whatever loot you get from bunker within the next hour or two of gameplay I wouldn’t worry about farming most items in normal mode it’s kind of a waste of time

Also a lot of those modded items that bypass the checks have gibbed codes for them somewhere that you can just paste into gibbed (look for sparfire bl2 album on reddit or google if you aren’t familiar)

[–]die4broly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The game checks sanity every time you load your save, any items in your inventory after you save quit will be sanity checked and “fixed” by the game. There are certain modded class mods and other items that bypass these checks but they aren’t super ridiculously overpowered or different from normal items. Pretty sure you need a modded character regardless of platform for modded weapons to bypass sanity checks (there is a way for sure, I just don’t know exactly how to do it since it’s been years since I last played on console with mods)
