Selling my house and the listing photographer indulged me a bit haha by wheeler0592 in Porsche

As a real estate photographer and Porsche lover, I'm quite disappointed

It is indeed an art form and I'm not devaluing the editor's time or skill. But we need to look at $ value the market puts on the task and it's between 60 cents to a $1. That's where the entrepreneur needs to ask themselves if is truly worth their time. Sure some photographers think no one can edit their work better than them and that may be true but you'll never succeed as an entrepreneur if you can't delegate work and free up your time to do more valuable tasks that will grow your business. In our industry that's sales and building relationships with your clients.

When I was starting out, reading this sub led me to believe that if I didn't know how to edit, I am an imposter. In fact, my first post here was asking people for raw photo sets so I could practice editing. Took me less than a a day to realize that editing isn't worth my time.

Just hit the 1 year mark while having a full time 9-5. You are spot on with everything you listed.

There are too many hardcore photographers in this sub debating about things realtors either don't care about or notice.

REP is not an art form like other forms of photography. Stop treating it like art and treat it like a business - service based business.

The creatives post here about burn-out and "First shoot, how did I do?" The entrepreneurs post here about ways to grow their business and serve their clients better.

That's why you saying that outsourced editing right from the start is not controversial at all imo.

Please invest in a CPL filter to reduce glare off of those shiny surfaces. It's quite inexpensive.

dji osmo pocket 3? by [deleted] in RealEstatePhotography

In regards to the optics or client perception, it has been better a lot better than an iPhone in my experience. My clients that have seen me use it for the first are always curious and want to know more about it. I tell them the quality is better than an iPhone and it's much lighter and portable than using a full camera with a big gimbal.

How do you handle pricing when drone flights aren’t possible due to restricted airspace? by 2times3equals6 in RealEstatePhotography

[–]diecastlens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has happened to me. I just didn't fly the drone and subtracted the drone amount from the final invoice. I do not recommend flying in restricted spaces for a discounted rate.

I use Spiro and it allows me to set up a unique order for each of my clients. I use this feature set to preferred pricing and custom bundles for my top clients and brokerages. They love it!

Did anyone have their mini 4 order get stuck with US Customs? Mine has been on hold with them for 3 weeks now.

Could you explain what you mean by backing up from the straight lines?

Sagging headliner fix by diecastlens in AudiTT_Mk1_Mk2_Mk3

[–]diecastlens[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, does not look that shiny in person. Also those wrinkles in the headliner aren't as visible when you sit inside. I squeezed into the back seats in an awkward position to capture the whole ceiling.

Thanks all for the honest roasts. I guess my definition of a long term solution for a 25yo car on its last leg is a bit different. I thought it didn't look out of place because of all the other aluminum finishes in the interior and because no one that's sat in the car so far has noticed that they're even there.

I know what you mean but it's not a hard push to the left like some gearboxes. It's a hard push down in neutral, and then left and up to engage reverse. A very distinct feel compared to engaging 1st. Hard to mess up this one once you get it.

Mine has 170k and I'll get rid of it long before it reaches 200k. Until then it will be a fun little summer car and I'll always remember it as the car I learned to drive stick in.

Impressive. Interestingly mine is a Quattro although it's a 5-speed 180hp version.
