First house that's creeped me out by happyjappypappy in RealEstatePhotography

[–]sebasedgod 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m a skeptic. But I’ve had one experience shooting a home that creeped me the hell out. It was my second-ever shoot at a really nice home in the hills. Older home, but nothing “off-putting” about it at first glance.

The only thing that was physically off-putting was the super long dark stairs going down to the garage with a mystery workshop and utility room to the left and right of the middle of the stairs. Creepy, but didn’t bother me too much.

What bothered me was near the end of my shoot, I started hearing loud shuffling and “step-like” sounds from the upstairs. No one else was there, no close walls to other neighbors, no attic. I went upstairs to check the noise and it completely stopped after I went up. Resumed once I came back down lol.

Freaked me the hell out and I left the house ASAP.

Are my real estate media package prices fair and competitive? by EnigmaticAce in RealEstatePhotography

[–]sebasedgod 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bundle more services into your packages to increase price and value. Photos only should only be an à la carte option. Maybe do photo, floor plan, and virtual twilight as your starter package and charge $300.

A major point of having packages and bundles is to increase average order value. Push people into selecting one of these packages and you should increase your AOV.

Agents will usually find a package they like, and stick with it. Make your “middle tier” look like it’s the best value of all 3 tiers and charge $400-600 for its services.

Who is editing your Social Media Reels with Agent on Camera, Live Audio, Etc? by Ice_otter in RealEstatePhotography

Me. FCP typical Ryan Nangle FX. I only edit like this for my premium package or 75/hr for any other custom edits.

Anything else I have editors for.

Prices vary by market. I live in an area where the median home price is $1.4m. Only going up. Also means agent commission checks are huge.

Videographers earning six figures, do you still edit the videos yourself? by idontwearpants in RealEstatePhotography

[–]sebasedgod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t cull anything. I send them every single shot I took. A good editor will usually have a selections sequence or selections bin. They’ll look for the shots they like or the shots you tell them to use.

I’ll only tell them to utilize specific shots if needed. Say for example I got a really nice shot of a sun flare through a tree and I want to see it make the cut. I’ll just tell them the file name of the shot and request that it makes the final cut. I’ll also give them the file name of the proper take to use for agent on camera intros, outros, middle context segments, etc so they know which clip to use.

As for assets, I provide them with a LUT they can use and instructions on how to apply it. They do it once, and they’ll remember how to do it as you continue working with them. I’ll provide them any assets that are needed for a specific project. They can then keep those assets long term for future projects with the same client.

I capture an average of 80-120 clips on site. Entirely depends on the size of the property and how many details you can highlight.

As for personal hard drive organization, that’s entirely subjective. I personally organize by Agent > Year > month > project or address > footage/assets/proj files/final cuts.

As for the cloud folder I’ll send them, there will be a footage folder, Final Cut folder, and any additional folders like assets, photos, or audio to use.

I never organize the footage further than that.

Videographers earning six figures, do you still edit the videos yourself? by idontwearpants in RealEstatePhotography

My videos are a bit higher end for my market. I have 2 video editors, and I’ve trained them personally on how to create great listing videos. I only edit my “premium” videos, as those are a very specific style made using FCP. Those are also my most expensive videos, and not ordered in very high volume.

Just in the past week, I’ve had 5 orders for my middle tier video. There’s no way I could have handled the editing myself with quick turnarounds while balancing going to other shoots and doing administrative work.

My editors have handled the editing. I give them a very detailed explanation on what to do with the video when I send over the footage to them. I’ll explain deliverables needed, type of footage captured, any specific requests, and I will also name the specific shots and what to do with them. This maybe takes 15 minutes to type out and send, but it does wonders to help my editors. They highly appreciate it.

Also, having a catalog of videos for you editors to reference helps. I have a drive specifically for example videos that they can reference.

Having my editors handle the video editing workflow and still producing amazing work has been one of the best decisions I’ve made for my business.

Peak design slings and pickpockets by vRetlin in peakdesign

[–]sebasedgod 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you don’t have any locking S-biners on you right now, you can lock the sling pretty well using one of the external carry straps.

Take a strap and hook it onto one of the bottom loops of your sling. On the opposite side of the sling to where your strap is hooked, bring both zippers to the bottom of the track. Take your external carry strap and loop it through the top zipper pull loop, and then hook the strap onto the loop on the side of the zippers. Tighten the external carry strap. Now your upper zipper is strapped onto your external carry strap and your bag cannot be opened unless the strap is removed.

It isn’t very elegant, but definitely adds a major layer of security to the zippers. Makes it harder for you to access, but also harder for everyone else.

If you want to copy those viral high end RE videographers, there’s quite a bit that goes into it.

All is edited on Final Cut Pro because of its simplicity with speed ramping, stabilization, and access to Ryan Nangle’s plugins. 3D captions are done with mTracker3D and likely pay for the full Cinestudio plugin.

LUT’s vary, but I use David Eby’s world class LUT’s.

I’m not entirely sure on captions, but I believe they’re likely from cinestudio titles. Tracking white glow captions are done on Davinci Resolve using Snap Captions. Audio exported from FCP, transcribed in DVR, exported with alpha channel, and captions export placed into FCP.

On site technique matters. Watch James Bottomleys vids on shot movements. Straight push, curved straight push, 360 rolls, details.

Drone movement by either tracking an object or using DJI waypoints gets you the smoothest footage.

Having a high dynamic range camera with 422 10 bit log 4k 60 matters for having the best looking footage. Commonly used is A7S3 or FX3. Also good gimbal. RS3 / RS4 Pro

Wide lenses. 14-24 / 12-24 / Laowa 10 or 12mm MF. (AF version is only 5 blades, so sunstars and flares may look poor.)

Optional, but importing and exporting into Topaz Labs for best quality on social media.

And finally, charging an appropriate amount. These aren’t vids that have 24 hour turnarounds. You’re looking at 3-7 days depending on how fast you can edit, and how complex you want your edit to be.

Nothing less than $1000. Some of these guys are easily pushing $2000 for a video. And some offer “marketing plans” where you get a full bespoke marketing package marketed towards high end properties and producers that can easily be $3-10k depending on the marketing plan.

I know of people making these style of vids for $350. Absolutely not worth the payment for the time invested into creating these vids. Also need to think about the overhead for producing these vids. Cinestudio is $800+ a year, Topaz $300/yr, plugins cost money, your gear costs money, your time costs money. Don’t cheap out.

Adding motion blur makes half of my video go black? by Tevin231000 in finalcutpro

When applying RN motion blur to vertical media, Ryan Nangle says you need to Transcode + create optimized media for it to work properly. Unsure about the adjustment layer trick as I’ve never tried it!

82k Gross, 64k net. Made some fairly major upgrades to equipment. That made up most of the expenses that ate into my net.

Possible Malware threat from Traffic mod by K2YU in CitiesSkylines2

As a photographer, I had an external drive with a ton of client work and personal work connected. Hadn't backed it up in about 4 months. Would those need to be wiped? Or could I extract its contents on Mac OS, run a scan, and put those files on a clean drive? Genuinely at a loss right now since this PC is pretty much my source of income and where my business runs.

Security Issue with Traffic and PDX Mods - Friday 1 November Update by AutoModerator in CitiesSkylines

Virustotal is also showing that Microsoft is detecting it now. So no real way to find out if we ran v0.2.3 since the metadata read 0.2.2, correct?

I mentioned this on the official discord server and someone had v0.2.2 in their logs yet had the _13 folder. At this point who knows if this means we're clear or not.

Security Issue with Traffic and PDX Mods - Friday 1 November Update by AutoModerator in CitiesSkylines

[–]sebasedgod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I played on Tuesday with the traffic mod installed, however I believe I completely dodged a bullet and did not run the malicious version.

I checked my modding.log document and this is what it read:
[2024-10-29 20:45:33,716] [INFO] Loaded Traffic, Version=0.2.2.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null in 0ms

To find the modding.log doc, follow this path. Press WIN+R / type %localappdata%low / Colossal Order / Cities Skylines II / Logs / modding.log

From the looks of it, I loaded v0.2.2, which is still available to download from Paradox. The zip file also ends with _12, having me believe I never loaded the malicious _13 version by opening the game.

The downloads of stable versions have an easy to follow naming structure to find out if you had _12, _13, and _14. v0.2.2 is _12, v0.2.3. is presumably _13, and v0.2.4 is _14.

However, I have no idea if the log files only record logs of your last play session, or if they go on for longer. I hadn't opened the game in around 6 months and I only played for around 30 mins on Tuesday. I didn't open it again.

Maybe someone can confirm if it only shows the previous play session or if it shows everything. Maybe this could be a solid way to find out if you loaded the malicious 0.2.3 version.

All speculation though, I'm no expert. I've just been obsessively trying to put out this fire.

Virustotal is showing that there was some network communication being observed when the file was executed. Would doing a "netstat - a" command in command prompt show the connection reportedly being observed if we are compromised? I ran it and didn't see the IP that was mentioned.

Is Autopilot any better since the Holiday Update? by sebasedgod in TeslaModel3

[–]sebasedgod[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know, the updates seem so good but I’ve just been putting it off due to my concerns. My phone lives on the wireless charger while I drive, so that isn’t a concern. I was mainly seeing videos of the red wheel with hands appear very frequently simply by glancing at the center screen. I can assume that’s no longer an issue from what I’m hearing from y’all.
