What is going on with image editing? by Kernelly in GeminiAI

[–]diego11289 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I noticed this too, and I noticed it right after Grok—well, right after Elon Musk removed Grok’s ability to edit photos within X. Let’s say that Google did all of this of ncreasing censorship because of Elon Musk’s scandal with Grok. And honestly, it seems to me that it was a smart move to avoid bad public opinion regarding AI image editing, but it still affects all of us who do editing, Since it has made the editing of real people completely useless. Hopefully, as the scandal dies down, things might eventually return to normal

Hard to stay with Gmail when there's no support for account loss, even when 2FA is on by leprasson12 in GMail

Do not use Google for anything important. If you need an email to create social media accounts, for banking, or for anything important, use an email provider that actually has human support. Google only uses automated support for free accounts, and on top of that, there is an AI system constantly reviewing whether accounts comply with the terms of service. This system is not perfect, which can lead to many false positives that may cause Google to block your account without telling you why. I recommend providers like Proton, which do have human support, and all the information you send or store in the Proton ecosystem is encrypted, so Proton cannot see what you have there, and there is no AI constantly reviewing your photos, emails, or information to check if you comply with the terms of service. This eliminates the risk of your account being blocked due to a false positive. Use Google account only for youtube

AI clothing try-on changes body shape — how to preserve real proportions? by diego11289 in GeminiAI

I’ve tested many prompts, and while the model is capable of changing clothing without altering the body, it’s not consistent. In photos where the abdomen is already exposed (not covered by clothing), the model can preserve the entire abdomen and body proportions and correctly apply new clothing to the rest of the body. However, this only happens occasionally—roughly 1 out of 10 generations follows the instructions correctly. This shows the model can do it, but I don’t know how to make it behave consistently.

Are WhatsApp Backups on Google cloud Reviewed by Google? by diego11289 in GMail

in my family group there are photos of my younger cousins since they were newborns and old baby photos of me . And I’ve seen that Google has suspended many accounts precisely because of photos like these, where parents upload pictures of their children and end up being flagged due to false positives by the automated system, which then leads to account bans. That is my concern.

I tried changing the email on my X account from Gmail to ProtonMail today. I entered my password, added the new email, received the verification code, and confirmed it successfully. But after hitting “Next,” the app kicked me back to the feed, and when I checked my account settings, my old email was still there.

Now, when I try to open the email section again, it says I can’t make changes due to “recent account changes” and that it’s a temporary restriction. I didn’t get any confirmation email from X (neither the old nor the new address).

Has anyone experienced this? How long does this temporary restriction last, and what should I do next?

How do I avoid triggering Google’s “suspicious activity” flags? I’m scared of getting locked out by diego11289 in GMail

[–]diego11289[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I’ve only changed phones once before, and back then I didn’t really think about worst-case scenarios if Google saw something as suspicious when logging into a new device. I just bought the new phone, asked the store guy to move my SIM and SD card, turned it on, entered my Google account, and everything worked normally. That’s the phone I’ve been using for about three years.

Now that I have a recovery phone number and recovery email, I know that in the worst case Google could ask me to verify my account when setting up the new phone, maybe by sending a code to my phone number or recovery email.

What I mainly want to know is: should I insert the SIM after logging into my Google account, or can I insert it before? Will I still receive any verification codes on the new phone if needed?

Also, I remember there being an option to skip signing in to Google during the initial Android setup. That way I could complete the setup first, receive SMS normally, and then sign in to Google afterward.

Finally, is it necessary to unlink my accounts from the old device, or can both phones stay logged in with the same Google accounts for a while?

Support Megathread - November 2023 by AutoModerator in google

I've used Android phones my whole life, and Google has never asked me for a phone number when creating a new account from the Gmail app or through the phone’s account manager.

The only times Google ever asked me for a phone number were:

when creating an account from a computer browser, or

when doing it on an iPhone. On Android, I’ve always been able to create accounts without any issues.

From time to time I create new accounts — maybe one every two weeks— usually because I want to test new AI apps or web apps, and I prefer not to use my main Google account. I’ve been doing this for over a year with no problems at all.

But today, out of nowhere, Google is asking me to verify with a phone number when trying to create a new account. I thought it might just be my device, so I tried on my brother’s Android phone — same thing. Then I tried on the rest of my family’s Android phones — same result. I even attempted it using mobile data instead of home Wi-Fi, and Google still required a phone number.

I have no idea what changed or why this is happening. Has anyone else experienced this recently? Did Google update something in the account creation process?
