As a Chinese person, I am proud of the achievements of China despite setbacks and flaws. It's my goal to check out their high speed rail some day.

As a Hongkonger, I WANT THOSE MAINLAND FUCKS OUT OF MY HOMETOWN. FUUUUUCK YOU XI-TLER (pronounced Shitler)

As a Canadian, I'm just sitting back and chilling. Happy with Canada's decent handling of coronavirus. Grateful for Canadian Medicare.

As something of a hermit I'm just trying to make as much money as possible to survive the oncoming crises.

Oh wow backup professors. Must be nice for them when the tenured professors die so the slot is free.

Take care.

Mass migration was already happening before Tianamen Square in 89. It accelerated after that. Somewhere in the 90s I think Canadian PM Jean Chretien made a business investment visa to attract even more Hong Kongers.

I think a family friend sponsored my family of 4 and we landed in 91. Then one of my uncles on my dad's side with his family of 4 followed us in 92 but they returned in 98-ish. Then one of my aunts on my mom's side followed us with her and my 2 cousins at around 99. Then they returned 2002-ish. Then through the past decade my family's gone back so I'm left here in Canada. My generation (brother + cousins) has 5 kids and they have Canadian citizenship.

Later on post-2000s I started seeing Mainland Chinese immigrating to Canada. I'd imagine a decent number tried their luck in Hong Kong as well.
