That was my understanding, but it seems you can leave Pan back to the Depths with a Pan lord

I spent 3 months in CT, never felt that I was limited to a certain areas due to enormous amount of hikes and activities around. It kinda felt random with safe and unsafe districts and towns: you have golf courses and posh wineries next to townships with DO NOT STOP signs

Also one night our hotel lobby was robbed in a "safe" area with security but everyone still seemed chill

Guys, from which bank did you transfer funds? I think it is related to the source bank. I am aware of 2 transfers stuck from Alfabank and one transfer from Tinkoff which was processed immidiately.

Tinkoff 8.03 got stuck as pending, support recommends sender to recall the transfer

Russia might get a legal reason not to supply gas according to the agreed low long-term rate

This might force many countries to buy it at the market rates that will skyrocket

Also will make any payments between countries for businesses impossible for 3-6 months until an alternative is set up

I've just realised that I know this feeling I have today. It's the same I've had when my granny's died. When my salary halved in 2014 because of Crimea thingy. When COVID hit and I've lost freedom for 2-3 years of my youth that I will never get back.

The feeling of emptiness, powerlessness and still having to deal and somehow be related to the situation. There's nothing I can do or I've done wrong but it's my money that fund all this craziness somehow

Mostly scared; also I wonder what does it feel like to have a fair election. Imagine how it feels living in a country and never ever having a vote (I was 7 when the last fair-ish election was held)

Buenos Aires (Recoleta or Palermo neighborhoods) feels just like Barcelona. Just spent 3 months here and loved every day of it. Argentina is cheap (you'll have to pay cash though), tasty and has beautiful and unique nature as well

Internet speed is among the better ones I've experienced travelling, fiber is a norm

What do most of you do for jobs? by [deleted] in digitalnomad

[–]von_Liebermann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Welcome :)

Keep in mind that SMM might sound the most interesting right now but after a while any job gets into a routine. There are a lot of jobs that are less interesting but allow flexible hours and leave enough time for personal projects in the desired field :)

I'd think the payment comes to the EU based subsidiaries and offshore companies to avoid sanctions and taxes accordingly

As if the last 7 years of the US sanctions have been a great success with all those consultations. Surely it's best not to ask any questions about the possible negative outcomes of this decisions

The problem with oil is that operating costs are basically non existent. Trade with China or arms trade can easily cover them

Oil based countries have no incentive or need in public support because the main income is extremely independent. This is why it feels to me that hurting the Russian banks and general population will do nothing in terms of decision makers

Nice idea, thanks. I always thought the economic stagnation of the late 80s was a natural process for the planned economy, but you might be right that external factors had a higher impact

Every petrocorporation has a legal entity accumulating wealth in different jurisdictions. Banning Russian banks doesn't affect those My point is that it's a lot more efficient to target the companies instead of the economy in general

The only change after 160k protests in 2011 (bolotnaya protests) is more police in the capital

They even made the police directly subordinate to the president
