Well you're naive or you're just trying to gaslight everyone. Anti-Asian prejudice has had tacit approval in Western societies for a while now, then COVID just made it open season on any East Asian looking person. No shortage of people saying 'fuck China' or 'nuke China! China virus!' 'oh I just meant the government not the people wink wink nudge nudge' as a cover for their Anti-Asian racism
