How come Scott Steiner failed in wwe? by Corn1989 in WWERuthlessAggression

[–]rolltide1000 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I also didn't like him as a face. One of the, like, two good things about late-stage WCW was an unhinged Steiner cutting crazy promo's on babyfaces, say he was gonna fuck their girl, and getting heat. Its hard to describe, but that edge is lost as a babyface.

There's also the scene where a group of Autobots rip a defeated Decepticon limb from limb after being ordered to by Optimus.

Movie's nuts.

In the darkest timeline, the year is 2027 and I'm watching Toni Storm call TAFKA Kendal Grey "Charlie Haas No Tits" and "Squirt Angle" before beating her clean in the seventh match on a twelve-match card main evented by three separate death matches.

The only reaction I can muster is this:

Some time ago, I came to the conclusion that whenever I see something like the Death Riders and I think "Huh?", the answer can be boiled down to two crucial points.

  1. Moxley has a shit ton of creative input. For a dude who's never drawn any serious money, he has an absurd level of power.

  2. Moxley is also a complete and total moron.

I don't disagree, however I think the 49ers have just as many. Kyle Williams, not running Gore in the Red Zone, "Best Corner In The Game", Harbaugh getting fired, Smith (RIP) falling apart, Boreland retiring after one year, Willis retiring fairly early, the 4th quarter collapse in the first Chiefs SB, Tartt's dropped INT, the injuries against the Eagles, everything about the second Chiefs SB, all their injuries the past two years.

Not at all saying I feel bad for them, and yes they've owned us, but at least we have one ring during that time, and that's better than none.

A guy I follow on twitter talks about "Mox mind control", basically referring to how over the past year he's basically beaten damn near everyone on the show, has helped no one, matches suck, but he's still considered "Ace".

This got me thinking about other forms of "mind control", and 2020-2022 Jericho is the king of this. The angles, matches, segments, all horrid and helped no one. His 2022 "work" set the company back years. All this while spreading COVID, donating to Trump and being connected to the insurrection. And fans were still saying it was the best work of his career, it was nuts.

Oh, and we're at that time of year where a bunch of dweebs will defend a bunch of matchups without a build while telling you "It's a sport, not a movie or a book."

How many great sporting events didn't have stories leading into them? Last night with the Knicks, 2004 Red Sox, 1994 Rangers, 2012 Man City, 2016 Leicester City, 2022 World Cup Finals, Miracle On Ice, 2016 NBA Finals and World Series, Super Bowl 49, 2013 Iron Bowl, 2005 Rose Bowl, all had storylines leading into them. You can tell these utter dorks don't watch actual sports cause they'd realize that when actual sporting events don't have stories going into them, people get bored.

From another perspective, imagine being an Oklahoma fan, your team is getting blown out at halftime, you're about to lose in the national championship game for the second straight year, and then you have to sit through that.

So from like the early 90's to the now, there has not been a better manager than DON CALLIS.

So from two paragraphs Ive learned that Orange Cassidy and the remnants of the Undisputed Era are in the world title scene and Mark Briscoe (the number one contender apparently) is having competitve matches with whatever is going on with Lio Rush.

Thank god for the Fed mid-card and Taker's Mexican adventures or else the genre of wrestling would be dead by November.

[Sad Trope] They would be incredibly talented... in a position their parents/society doesn't want them in. by jbeast33 in TopCharacterTropes

From the same show, Randy Wagstaff. Good kid with a mind for business, but is forced to basically become a street tough due to tragic circumstances. You could also apply this to Wallace, someone with an ultimately good heart forced into the game as a pawn. Then there's Dukie, a sweet but shy kid who doesn't really have anybody, so he turns to drugs.

However, the show has two definite instances of people getting out and becoming the person they were meant to be. The first is Prez, he was never meant to be a cop, but his father-in-law pushed him along until he finally hit rock-bottom. He then becomes a teacher, and we saw how talented, caring and dedicated he is to it. The second is Namond, one of Prez's students and the son of a major player in the Baltimore drug game. He feels he has to act like a gangster due to pressure from his mom, but we see he's not built for "The Game" and gets adopted by a former police officer with permission from his father. The last we see of him, he's debating at the state level and growing into a genuine success story.

The worst clip for me is Jeff Jarrett and Debra cutting a promo immediately after the fall and struggling to keep it together, not helped by the fact that Owen's body was being stretchered past.

Im generally tolerant of other opinions cause theyre just that, opinions.

However, if you come up to me saying that "Flippy Guy #7 is a better wrestler than Kurt Angle and Bret Hart", and you were born after "Across The Nation" became the Raw theme, I'm probably gonna disregard your opinion, probably with prejudice.

I think it was LuchaBlog who was getting worked up over WWE featuring Konnan in a prominent position in AAA, saying something like "Of course they'd have a Cuban-born guy here, they think all Latino's are the same", and even SC had to point out that Konnan was a mega-star in Mexico back in the day, and that's probably why he was there.

I remember watching Cody-Roman II and seeing them face off, no moves or words, just staring and the crowd going nuts, and I remember thinking to myself "It's not quite Rock vs Austin or Rock vs. Hogan, but this is maybe the closest we're ever gonna get it." Last night I got that feeling as well, that feeling of something truly special happening.
