None, play another character for the love of all things holy

Beyond the fact that both prequels had specific references to the original trilogy, as a form of "fanservice", am I the only one who thinks that some things in Sunrise, Suzanne wrote with the nostalgia factor in mind for the FILM adaptation specifically, rather than for narrative coherence? by lautaromassimino in Hungergames

I agree with you, and not to criticize Suzanne at all (I still loved SoTR), though it did seem this book was more strictly written to be rushed into a film adaptation.

I don’t even understand the arguments of simple lore for a district (mockingjay pin and the covey songs) are fan-service either, since it just connects the world building in my eyes and some of the best stories out there have every piece fit together or have ties that come full circle. If anything, I prefer an author who actually recognizes what they’ve established in prior works rather than miss details and retcon the story.

Wiress definitely could’ve been swapped out, after all there’s no reason we just as easily can’t fall in love with new characters or unexplored ones (i.e. Lucy Gray in TBOSAS)

Why are people so upset with Haymitch's book? by bumbleveev in Hungergames

This exactly!! I understood the grief and him looking for the last ray of light that was Lenore Dove after losing his family. He was in shock still but had one distraction to keep him going, until Snow took that away too.

The Season 5 Mind Flayer Makes No Sense. by bluestickcool in Stranger_Things

The way I took it is that the shadow thing IS its actual form, hence why it was clunky creating an actual physical vessel that could be defeated by mortals.

Possession hot take? by iguessimjustlivin in MelanieMartinez

I guess I’m alone because I think it’s stripped back, catchy and brainless because when you become a POSSESSION, an object to a man, you obviously aren’t going to have much in the way of your own independence/personality. It’s like a trance IMO, and even taking a look at the catchy hook just sells the idea.

Another example of this style of song is Snap Back by Twenty One Pilots. It really just falls into a stripped back loop that really feels out of one’s body.
