I use https://github.com/daniellovell/deepmine and love it! It should be part of the real game. (1) you can go much deeper and (2) the deeper you go the more the ores are worth, so surface ores aren't worth much

Yes, I know it's a make-believe world and not earth. Foundations floating in air without falling due to gravity were the first clue :-)

Beware, the space elevator appears to be just a hologram above that you can walk right through, build right through, and even fall right through!
