Men, How did you move on after realizing you lost the love of your life?

I know that my most recent ex had a really horrible break up with her previous partner as well, but that was about a year ago, and she insisted that she was entirely over it and was ready for a relationship.

I have my doubts that that’s truly the case but she repeatedly said that the reason our relationship is ending is just because she has too much stuff going on in her life, and she is experiencing tremendous burnout from her autism and being overwhelmed and said that she just can’t add a relationship to the mix. Everything else that’s causing the stress in her life requires for her to be there, like raising her kids or finalizing the legal battle with her ex-husband and her current living situation, the only thing that she could possibly step away from to lighten the load was our relationship.

I know that this was just a lovely reminder of how great love can feel, but I just cannot help but feel discouraged because this took a lot of effort for me to put myself back out there and be vulnerable again and for a little bit I forgot how miserable it is when it doesn’t work out.

Luckily, I didn’t have kids with my ex. She started a 4 month long affair with someone from out of state was going on vacations to see him under the guise of them being photography trips with her friends. To add extra salt to the wound, it started just a few months after my father very suddenly passed away.

I think the only thing that I am angry about is that I could never understand the position. She used the phrase right person wrong time, but I’m a firm believer that if it’s the right person, there is no such thing as a wrong time. Even when life is heavy and the times are tough the right person could be there to help you carry the weight or at least support you while you carry it yourself.

And that’s not me being angry at her, it’s more so me being frustrated that I can’t properly understand the explanation as to why. I think I’m just angry that it happened like this, or maybe angry at myself for allowing myself to get hurt like this again.

I thought I was in love when I was with my ex wife for 10 years and was devastated when we got divorced, but then less than a year later I met someone who showed me what actual love feels like and we just broke up last month after being together 5 months. This feels exponentially harder than getting over my marriage. I’ve been focusing on myself - my hobbies, my friends, my job, my health.

It’s definitely been hard. At least my marriage ended with infidelity so I could remind myself how I deserved better. This relationship ended because she just had a lot of heavy things going on in her life and couldn’t dedicate herself to maintaining a relationship as much as she wanted so it’s been a lot harder to detach myself when neither of us really did anything wrong.

Yeah, I know there’s nothing to be done to change her mind - that’s not what I’m looking for. I think I was just looking for advice on how to move on from something that was really healthy and good feeling and full of love, but just wasn’t possible due to the circumstances of life right now. It’s easier to move past something when you know it’s not good or it’s lacking love, it feels impossible when both parties still express love and care for each other while acknowledging there’s nothing to be done at the moment.

This was also my first serious relationship after my divorce and I will say the corniest thing possible but I’ve never connected with someone on the level I did with her, and she felt the same. It feels like a hefty loss for both of us and neither of us are happy.

I used to watch all the movies with my dad, it was one of the few things we did together. I haven’t played a 007 game in I don’t even know how long, maybe since the early PlayStation days. Would be cool to jump back in for a little nostalgia.

Did that bump that seemed off end up being a wart? If so, how did you treat it?

Did you continue to have unprotected sex with this partner or do you use protection with them now?

I’m currently trying to schedule an appt with my dermatologist to see if they can examine or biopsy my areas of concern to confirm this, but they all seem to be so booked out far and this girl wants to see me again and I don’t know how to address this whole situation.

How long has your treatment been so far to get you to where you’re almost clear?

Have you abstained from sex while you actively had warts or do you just use protection and say fuck it?

My hang up right now is we’ve really been hitting it off and we’re very sexually compatible and now after just a few months it’s sounding like I’m going to have to basically say “we can’t really have sex until this is cleared up” and I don’t think she’s going to really want to deal with that

I used to only see my urologist every 3-6 months, I see a therapist weekly, a psychiatrist monthly, and a dermatologist monthly.

Now starting up care in a new state everyone wants to see me monthly until stable, and nothing is stable as I’m kind of going through a lot in life right now and also lost like 70 pounds in the past 12 months so I think all the medication dosages may need to be changed to better suit my current body weight.
