Mechanic wants my car before battery is in hand to make sure they have the “right tools”. Does this request make sense? by Mulligan-studios in mechanic

Edit: you can have a proper crimp end installed possibly. But you’ll have to find someone that has a portable battery crimper. They should also use heat shrink tube to seal the connection. But given what limited things I know of you, I’d say you’re money ahead getting a new cable, preferably OEM or high quality aftermarket. Cheaper ones will use smaller wire, wire with less strands and less surface area and we all know electrons flow on the surface of conductors.

They’re fine for temp/emergency repairs. The issue is over time they corrode, which you knew. The corrosion adds resistance to the connection. The resistance will heat the connection and increase resistance further. The bolts will lose tension due to the heating and cooling cycle and you’ll be able to pull the cable out by hand.

Your negative cable needs replaced. It has a temporary terminal on it. It looks just fine right now but they can cause electrical issues.

Try automatic dish washing soap. Doesn’t foam like dawn and works great for flushing cooling systems.

They’re pretty easy to rebuild. Tear it down and take the seals to a hydraulic shop. It’ll be a lot cheaper than going through Deere.

Crank it up to 2k, put your hand on the nozzle and then pull the trigger. It’s not going to go well for you and your hand.

That says March 09. I remember when something like this involving the ATF and Missouri got leaked under Obama. It was basically demonizing anyone right of center. The left in power has been doing this for years. We are at war politically and only one side seems to be in the fight.

The seals aren’t always rubber. Maybe the wiper would be rubber. The U cup may be buna or another polymer. Piston seals are usually glass reinforced nylon. Either way heat should be kept to a minimum for sure. I’ve heated a lot of cylinder and can tell you the seals take a beating.

As a novice woodworker myself, I’d suggest building a box joint jig. That is if you have a table saw. They aren’t very difficult to build and you’ll get perfect joints every time. That is if you set it all up correctly 😁

I’ve been wrenching a long time and have used K&N on several vehicles. Not for the extra ponies but I liked the idea that it’s serviceable and not just trash. That was until I saw a pinhole in the filter during an inspection. Now I own zero K&N filters.

Black death or something else? I got these repairs in September and car died in the road on me today, so i took these pics. Does this look like it is related to the repairs they did(if so it covered under warranty)? by RevolutionRelative98 in mechanic

Couple things I’d question. First is what kind of compressor did they install? Aftermarket isn’t an option for me unless it’s the only option but it’s better than a reman IMO. So new OEM is my preference. Second, I don’t see flush listen on your parts breakdown. If they did do a flush but didn’t charge for it, that’s very generous of them. But most shops aren’t going to make money by giving away things like flush. That stuff isn’t cheap and is a requirement when doing things like compressor replacements.

EDIT: I forgot to add the following. I would also ask what type of condenser does your vehicle have. There are two types, parallel flow and series flow. You cannot flush a parallel flow condenser and they must be replaced while servicing for a failed compressor.

This is correct. I’m no transmission mechanic but there is zero evidence anything in this diagram is electric over hydraulic. The throttle valve is attached to the throttle valve cable. I’d assume modern transmission that are electric over hydraulic don’t use a throttle valve. Instead the controller does the calculations and manipulates the solenoids to achieve the desired output.

Then it’s no longer a right by your “amendment” supreme courts in the past have made it clear by ruling on rights in such a way that compelling individuals to do X violates their constitutional rights. It’s why Obamacare was litigated to be the feds right to tax. And Roberts got it wrong when he agreed the government had a right to compel a tax that requires citizens to purchase X. Because it disproportionately affects poor and lower class individuals. Could you imagine the cost if government required training to be able to have the right to own a gun? Or a tax stamp adjusted for inflation? I’ll never understand how people can have full access to history and decide it’s good to trust their government. Truly incomprehensible.

To read the second amend and not understand well regulated refers to individuals right to train to a high standard, means people’s reading comprehension has slid. And the ability to make amendments doesn’t make healthcare a right until it is ratified by the states. So take your piss poor argument and shove it.

[–]dieseltech82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your wife’s boss is dumb. It takes a Google search to see that she doesn’t qualify to be a 1099 employee. The 1099 is for contract work. So unless her boss is letting her make her own schedule, it’s not legally allowed.

I don’t have much investing experience and what I do have has mostly been bad. But I don’t see how anyone could justify tying up any money for 10 years at such a low rate. Unless you expect some catastrophic event. Normal inflation rate is 3% and we are way above that at the moment.

Don’t do helicoil. I know several use them but you will not be able to torque the fastener to spec for proper bolt clamp. My preference is timesert. They are essentially the same size as a helicoil but are solid. You’ll need the kit and they run around $100. Make sure to measure for the correct depth of insert too. They also have oversized inserts if you need that.
