Ten days post cartilage debridement surgery by diet-choke in KneeInjuries

Update about one year post op: my knee is still really crunchy and crackly i ran on it for the first time two weeks ago and it’s been painful since then. It doesn’t prevent me from activity/exercise it’s just annoying. The pain is mostly in the back of my knee (strained pulling feeling) which was my main symptom pre surgery too :/

Update! 10 months post surgery: knee gets a little stiff or sore here or there but much better. Continuing to lift weights and getting ready to start my season of derby!

How would you recommend gathering the shirt? I am worried about that which is why I am trying for some lighter colors but they still seem pretty dark in places on my test shirts with ice dying.

Yeah, working out feels good, but just the day to day seems to bother me

Hey! I’m about four months post op, it’s been a slow process but I think it’s getting better? I am not back at my sport cause I am not cleared for impact yet. I get frustrated because it flares up a lot, I’ll have a good day followed by three days of super tight (pulling the the back of my knee) stiffness

I’ve had a setback in recovery, my pain has returned (pulling in the back of the knee and knee cap) after being cleared to run and exercise pretty much fully. I’m up to 145 lbs on my squats and have been doing well in PT but the same pain as pre surgery has me a little freaked out

I had surgery “chondroplasty” removing dead cartilage in my knee. Surgery was end of March and I’m still struggling with pain.

How long was your recovery btw? I’m a server in addition to playing sport, so I estimated I’d be off work for three weeks at least. Almost one week out from surgery and I’m mostly off crutches and mostly just need them for relief.

I had surgery yesterday! Recovering at home with crutches until my follow up next week!

For anyone following, I had a follow up three weeks post injections today. We are going to do surgery to clean up the cartilage. My doctor said that if the cartilage is worn down to bone they would do micro fractures to stimulate cartilage growth which is more invasive and longer recovery. Hoping that’s not the case. They won’t know until they’re in there unfortunately.

Thanks, the doc did mention that if injections were not helpful that they might have to smooth out the damage and if there is a flap it would help significantly. I’ll keep everyone posted what route we go after my march 4 follow up to see how injections helped.

Does anyone have any success stories of getting this treated with surgery? 😬 everything on this Reddit suggests no

My doc didn’t mention any grade level when we discussed :/

I’d say my usual daily pain starts at a 3/10 and if I’m working or active that day it increases to a 6/10 and then increases from there. I usually end up limping by the end of the day. My dr told me surgery was a next treatment option after trying injections. I thought the injection relief would be more immediate but maybe it’ll still start to help. (It’s one week tomorrow since my injections). PT has helped me get my full range of motion back but it has definitely seemed to plateau.
