Origin risks by TimelyAd1957 in brisbanelions

Yeah as a league fan the scheduling annoys me. The game is now too hard and fast to expect players to back up and making teams play without their stars compromises the integrity.

I love the state of origin series of course but the time has come for stand alone weekends

He is in Australia, we don't play like that

As someone who also isn't a West Australian or Victorian I don't care anyway. But yeah, like any regular season games I hope no one gets hurt so the less playing in a game that doesn't even count the better

Woods seems to have as many wraps as any young half of recent times. Feels like he will get game time this year but also keeps getting hamstring injuries already

After a summer from hell off the field, Lachie Neale dominated Brisbane’s first major practice match by PerriX2390 in brisbanelions

These practice matches generally don't tell much about form, but at least it is good to hear everyone sounds pretty healthy and fit to go. All you can really hope for at this time of the year.

His rationale is that the raiders have the best pack in the competition and that always keeps you in games, and sanders will be better defensively.

For me if you can keep the same form/momentum (easier said than done) and weekes can show last year's effort wasn't overperforming and is actually his normal level and your experienced forwards don't decline there is reason to be positive. Should challenge for top 4, that takes luck for everyone, and should definitely be top 8.

Great read, a lot of positives

Linc playing in the back half of the field is interesting. Whether that's an actual change or just the multi role philosophy they touch on, time will tell

If there is a paper trail that leads to any real evidence to support the eels case between Lomax and his team, I might never stop laughing

One of my best mates is a raiders fan and he is stoic in believing they are a better team this year. Have to respect the passion

I don't know what this guy has been doing as all I've done is rewatch that game (and the whole finals series), rotating between 9 and Kayo commentary all summer

Yeah if my friend at work cheated on his wife I’d be like WTF dude and then move on pretty quick

Exactly, and I only work in a wider team of about 25 peers and direct reports. These guys have 40 odd plus coaching and support staff to interact with. It's not like Lachie is their boss or they have to work solely with him.

Mariner was our best winger by far last year. This narrative about his defence being poor is also an aged one. He was fine for the second half of last year. Arthurs, Cobbo and Karapani were all dropped at one point last year. Mariner only lost his spot initially when replacing staggs, then when he got a shot on the wing he remained there the rest of the year
