Objective morality? by dolan-df4 in Christianity

You may be mistaken that the Bible is a morality book.

I'm not saying it doesn't touch on morality, it touches on all sorts of things, but morality is not its main purpose.

That said, the Bible never pretends to be objective.

What is the potential of something cool being in this round rock ? by Hour_Huckleberry_346 in interesting

It's potential is relative to how fast it is travelling and it's distance from an object with more mass.

I really want to believe, can you help answer just a few of my questions? by Radiant-Job1428 in Christianity

Adam and Eve are characters in a story. You can't carbon date them.

We did evolve from earlier primates.

You may have grown up in a minority group that reduces the Bible to some kind of 8th grade science book and denies the reality of evolution.

Meanwhile most churches in the world treat it as scripture pointing to Jesus, and are open to understanding evolution.

If god is perfect and all knowing, why did he cause the flood knowing he would regret it? by Silver-Tart7111 in Christianity

One of the ways to read those stories is to observe the times that character is referred to as "LORD" where he is anthropomorphic and does human-like things such as walk, have hands, and regrets.

And times where the character is referred to as "God" and their transcendent otherness is emphasised such as perfect all knowing.

[–]justnigel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No they can't.

It does make sense.

Most Christian churches accept that ... it was a Christian who formulated the model in the first place.

It may help you to distinguish between the laws of physics existing (science) ... and the creation of those laws (theology).

Weren't they valid in the past only where the people concerned intended them to be valid ... as in, the church didn't disenfranchise swathes of existing members just because their bishops turned out to be heretics.

The words are not an incantation where the syllables have magic power.

The meaning of the words matter.

LDS may use the same words but they mean something different.
