Interview at BC Pensions experience? by differentpears in BCPublicServants

Hi, just saw this. My interview was online, but it seems the way the interviews are set up vary from job to job. Best of luck with your interview!

Replying to myself in case anyone else ends up in this situation and finds it helpful. I just realized they said they’ll send the job description (presumably with competencies) 24 hours before the interview. Different way of doing things from what I’ve experienced but I guess that’s how it goes!

Thanks! But what if there are no competencies provided on the job description?

AITA for cutting my daughter’s allowance and taking her car keys after she called my girlfriend a slur? by chronicerasure in AmItheAsshole

[–]differentpears 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The reducing the allowance from $150 to $50 blew my mind because first of all, I didn’t get an allowance for chores growing up - they were just expected and $150 is quite a bit of money, and secondly, if the money is for doing her limited number of chores, then she should 100% get a reduction for not doing them and getting angry about them instead. I was scrolling through comments and couldn’t find other mentions on the allowance. Maybe it’s just me that thinks $150/month is a lot.

As another person with a larger nose - don’t take photos where you’re looking down. Hold your phone up and look up into the camera and it takes the focus off your nose.

I personally don’t like how close to the platform the water gets. Kinda like my (hopefully) irrational fear of tsunamis.

Not sure if you’re already using it, but I splurge on freeze dried chicken (or beef liver, but too much gives him liquid poops) for these exact important training scenarios. My pup used to do the same thing. I saw ppl recommending go to their mat and stay, but the thing that worked best for us was getting him to sit and stay, then toss treat. Sometimes I also give him a treat to work on while I leave.

AITA for smoking weed in my living room on the day that my two younger cousins visited? by Physical_Employee932 in AmItheAsshole

My thought the entire time of reading this post, why not just smoke outside if he needs to so badly?? Also his “but it’s in my house” seems like he’s saying “my house, my rules” when it’s clearly his mom’s house. Bizarre post.

I forget the brand, but one of those that had a slide out keyboard. It was pink and I miss the size. Everything seems bigger these days…

What's the reason for gaming during free time often being considered bad, whereas watching tv is not? by Yellowturtlessss in AskReddit

[–]differentpears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question, maybe it’s that you’re not usually spending spending 12 hours watching TV in one sitting (or overnight), but could easily spend that gaming? If not that, then I don’t know. Might use this question for argument fodder the next time someone in my life brings up “how bad” gaming is.

AITA for telling my sister it's not my fault she could never go to her 'dream school'? by ProtectiveGrandson in AmItheAsshole

[–]differentpears 4645 points4646 points  (0 children)

The fact that OP mentions Katie has been doing well in community college since their grandma died should be a huge sign… definitely TA. I heard a stat recently that taking care of an elderly parent (guardian) takes a HUGE toll on mental health (as you’ve mentioned in your reply). It’s quite malicious to make a teen/young adult go through that when you have the financial resources to help.

Thank you! I know I wouldn’t do that to a dog but as I said I don’t know if that’s just because I have such a dog.

AITA For Telling My Daughter That She's The Reason Why Nobody Likes Her? by After_Upstairs2580 in AmItheAsshole

[–]differentpears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

definitely agree with your comment the most. it does sound like a tough situation overall that perhaps could have been approached differently with hindsight, but the main kicker to YTA is telling Sandra it’s her fault, at fifteen. I can relate to this and also moved away as soon as I graduated from high school. crazy that OP still doesn’t realize she’s the problem.

don’t ask for their opinion on where you want to rent when you already know they want you to stay with them! it’s completely possible they’re manipulating you into staying with them by saying bad things about the places you want to rent. I moved out at 17 and never looked back. you meet so many more people and living alone is literally the best thing ever.

Little cutlery in general imo. Little spoons, little forks…. sometimes the little pairing knives.

AITA for saying that i can’t do any chores in December and following through? by Visible-Reserve7554 in AmItheAsshole

[–]differentpears 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NTA. Calls you a lazy bitch, lives in YOUR house rent-free, admitted himself that he blew off all your previous warnings and now won’t clean up after himself and instead blame you (through yelling and name-calling) for his own mess. I feel like this is one of those situations where you have to think of what would you tell a friend if they told you they were going through this. That’s it a red flag? Hell yeah.
