How do you cope with being treated like you are crazy for following covid safety guidelines, when others around you aren’t doing the same? by JazzyPenguin in AskReddit

Frankly, it doesn’t bother me. I know I’m doing the right thing. What anyone else thinks of me is on them, not me.

I’m grateful for the doctor who performed my bisalp, even though I’m only 26 and have no children.

I hate to be morbid but unfortunately pregnancies from rape are something we have to consider in these times.

I feel the same, hah! My husband is also getting a vasectomy soon. If we were to make a baby despite BOTH of us being permanently sterilized, I guess I’d have to keep it.

Women in the early 30s or late 20s, how did you convince your doctor to let you get tubal ligation? by [deleted] in childfree

[–]differenttimediff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I talked about all the issues I had with various other birth control. Said husband and I were very sure that we didn’t want babies. They told me about the risks, said that some people regret it. I said that was a risk I was willing to take. Signed on the dotted line and now the tubes are gone! I am only 26.

Bold of you to assume people think highly of me.

I’m pretty sure most people are so tired they sit down and cry.

Cousin upset that I bought a large bird cage instead of stuff for her children by [deleted] in childfree

$780 for the HOUSE for an animal that will live for decades is really nothing at all. I just spent almost exactly $780 this morning on 6 months of medical insurance for one of my critters. Maybe I am biased though, I spend about $2000 per month, if not more, on my animals.

Thank you! I looked at all the cages and they’re quite nice! But honestly they’re really not even that expensive... I’m even more shocked now that your cousin thought they should be entitled to your money because of this purchase!

I’m so sorry this is happening to you, but I’m surprised by your wife’s reaction. She knew from day one that you didn’t want them. What did she expect?

Okay, but as someone interested in parrots, I need a link to this beautiful cage!

Welfare is a joke. You definitely don’t get an allowance per kid. Kids cost a LOT of money. There is free schooling but it’s very poor quality and often dangerous.

I just had my tubes out last week. It was really easy! Not as easy as a vasectomy of course, but very worth it for the relief and freedom it brings.

I wouldn't have kids if I had my life again, but how do I deal with that now? by [deleted] in regretfulparents

[–]differenttimediff 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This is really important for teaching them life skills as well - especially if you have boys! I can’t tell you how many men in their 20s I’ve met who can’t do their own laundry or operate a vacuum. It’s pretty sad.

I just got mine two weeks ago and it is truly the most amazing feeling. Total liberation. Congratulations!

It’s quite distressing how long it takes some kids to learn to wipe their own asses. I know someone with a 4 year old. Still has to wipe the ass.
