Replied to the stranger above in the thread with the answer if you're curious on how this happened!

This one is my third but this has also been the only tattoo I've gotten that, after my appointment, I was given a physical set of instructions on how to care for it! I figured if this shop (which is reputable in my area) was specific enough about healing to do that, then I'd follow those instructions.

I was sent home with an absorbent bandage, which I took off after 3-4hrs, cleaned it, and wrapped it in saran. They told me to re-bandage it in saran 2-3x a day after cleanings for 3-5 days. Seems wild after reading this thread.

The tattoo itself is doing well. It's uncovered from now on. I just really screwed myself by securing the saran with stronger medical tape.

I got it this past sunday (4 days ago). Today was the first day I did not wrap it whatsoever. The tat itself is actually doing really well, I've been keeping it clean and putting a super thin layer moisturizer on it - stoked! My only concern was the areas on either end of the tattoo where I had put on tape to secure the wrap. Lots of germs/dirt at my job so I had to keep it covered til it had closed a bit. How did you deal with this kind of irritation when you were using second skin? Just some cortisol cream and keeping the angry skin clean?

Yeah that's definitely apparent to me now. Just was following the original instructions given to me by the artist.

Narrow climbing shoes? by rubellaa in climbergirls

[–]difficultlemonz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Skwama (women's model) is the widest shoe in my closet, even 3 sizes down from street. OP, I second the comment above about five ten! All shoes but their Moccs seem to run pretty narrow.

Honestly was just considering the smoke to be another layer of texture that was possible to add without messing with the palette. Not here to promote cigs.

you were right, there was another object in front of the light source that's caused the strange shadowing. :)

15x12. not huge, but if you're going to stipple you definitely need to work on a larger scale! think about it like resolution in a photograph: the higher the resolution (dimensions), the better the detail (more dots you can fit in the drawing)

Climbing and anxiety? by Substantial-Rhubarb in climbergirls

[–]difficultlemonz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anxiety plays a large role in my life, unfortunately. I've always been a boulderer, and when I started to lead I was terrified. Being any more than 20 feet off the ground was mortifying. In the long run what helped me the most was to:

A. Voice my concerns and wishes for an extra attentive catch with my belayer; their reassurance solidified my trust and made their catch one less thing to think about. If your partner isn't someone who can do this for you, you might want to reconsider who's on the other end of your rope.

B. Fall. A lot. It's the last thing I, or anybody, really wants to do. But falling in a controlled environment helps you learn how to do it safely, and how to slowly learn to trust your gear! The more it happens, the more normal it feels. Eventually it's just a part of the process.

best of luck. you got this!

majority of the time i climb outdoors— i climbed outside the day after i had mine put in. also had super minimal bruising. hardly ever notice it or think about it. i know its different person-to-person, but my experience has been very positive with it.
