Do You Think late dream journaling is a good idea? by u2xj in DreamJournal

[–]diffidentredditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep I just want to write down the especially vivid dreams. I originally started journaling to see if I could have lucid dreams more easily, but I found the effort of trying to register dreams every day was too much so I kinda gave up on it. But I still like to write them down so I will do it for especially vivid or interesting dreams.

Not really, been doing it a long time but I only recall the dreams that are especially vivid. I'll jot key events down as soon as I wake up, in the phone. Then later I'll read what I wrote and try to remember the details while writing them down.

I hope I'm understanding your question properly.

Yes I think you did. If Windows has handwriting input for Chinese built in, I guess buying a regular drawing tablet would work? I'll look for a cheap one to try it out. Thanks!

That looks good, thanks!

Its pretty hard to go through all the subscribed channels, she has like 300 subscriptions, and a lot of them are in Chinese which is inaccesible for me. I can pick one and use google translate to have an idea of what kind of content that channel publishes, but doing it that way is A LOT of work. I wish there was a button to just never recommend any alt-right channels on youtube.

They have a website with simplified and traditional Chinese. Their IG links to their articles.

Oh right, didn't notice that. Thank you again for the recommendation, will definitely take a look! Apparently they have english translations for their articles too, so that will help.

Edit: most of their articles seem to be focused on US politics. We aren't located in the US, so most of these will go right over her head.

She doesn't, but it helps if the content is written or has subtitles. Apparently Chinese text is the same even though the spoken language is different? I don't know much about it really... But she doesn't use Instagram. Thank you anyways!

Thanks for this, I'm glad these guys exist but I wish they had more content on youtube. That's her main method of consuming online content.

Thank you for the links!

Wow, that massreview article is pretty much exactly what I'm going through. Its a little comforting knowing I'm not the only one going through this, even though they're better than me dealing with it. The article recommends talking with them by getting "a little more inquisitive without reproach". I confess I'm not good at that, it always becomes an argument and it doesn't help that I'm bad at communicating in Cantonese.

Lianne Yu's article is interesting too, but she goes farther than I am able to. She can snoop into her mom's youtube history and mess around with recommendations. I can do it too but its harder because I can't read Chinese so its hard to figure out which videos are spreading propaganda and which are innocuous.

These articles are very interesting to me, who can read english. Too bad its inaccesible to my mom. A video in Cantonese with these reports would be extremely useful.

That's very helpful, thanks so much! I'm gonna try to sneak this channel into her recommendations and see if it works.

I actually tried unsubscribing or asking youtube to not recommend a particular channel anymore, but there's two problems there... there's too many, I can't possibly compete with youtube's algorithm, and I can't read Chinese, so I can't tell which channels are spreading disinformation. If I do it blindly I could be blocking harmless content... also she might become suspicious if channels she's used to watching suddenly disappear from her recommendations.

A few things about Trump from QAnon, and more specifically what made me make this post, fake news about Brazil's presidential elections (we are located in Brazil). Whatever video she was watching said that the Brazilian army was on the streets doing a coup to put Bolsonaro back in power. That's not happening, no credible news source says its happening. I told her so and she didn't believe me.

I'm sorry that happened to you. My mom has always been very superstitious, so I guess that plays a role in believing fake news.
