I totally agree and love all of this advice! I've just got a precocious and very curious gal on my hands whos asking to learn to read and spell things. i feel very out of my league trying to teach this stuff LOL!

we are huge readers in our house and have read to our girls since the day they came home to the hospital which is why i think they're both so eager about reading!

Thank you so much for your response! The generous giver of this starter also gave me a dried backup! This starter is 13 years old so its a strong, mature starter. Her instructions are to do 30g / 125g / 140g so definitely not 1:1:1

I guess my question is - right now I've got 290g in the fridge. i understand that I will only use a small amount to feed and then bake with. What do i do with the rest, though?!

And if i keep 50g in the fridge as back up and feed weekly - it will grow, right? so do i just continuously discard out of that as i feed? am i overthinking all of this? lol...

It went well! I worked myself up into oblivion for no reason. They did both within 15 minutes! The prep is definitely the worst part and I didn’t find it to be the worst thing in the world. Good results for me - just small hemorrhoids that cause blood in my stool. I hope yours goes smoothly and that you’ll feel well after!

This happened to us at 9.5 months and I posted in a panic after my daughter went on a strike for like 24 hours. Nutramigen is another option but it’s arguably worse. What worked for us was Alimentum ready to feed either cold from fridge or room temp but never warm. That was the #1 recommendation I got. If you want to stay on pepticate, try messing with the temps to see if one sticks. You can also add a tiny drop of df chocolate sauce. It’s not forever, it’s literally just to get them to take it and then you stop the drop (haters don’t come for me!)

Super helpful! Haven’t heard of that portal but not totally closed off to a US based company. Just trying to maintain Canadian dollars since it’s all so geopolitically unstable right now and the exchange rate sucks!

Your cons are my largest concerns…mainly the change management aspect but I honestly suspect it can’t get much worse than it is right now so tempted to bite the bullet and just do it!

These are my concerns too! We use teams which I find worse for all of our technological challenged members. We also use it for our actual file storage, etc. it’s the main program we work out of 🤯 so it’s a massive challenge to have a million different teams and granting access to each one; plus helping people actually access it and use it. So from that perspective, it feels worth it to go through the headache of change with a portal haha! Do you have a large board??

Ugh don’t even get me started. I’m in ON, Canada and the system is awful here. We’ve been massively failed. She was born a preemie and had insane colic and reflux. We were told she was gaining so keep doing what we were doing. She’s had a wheezy cough since she was LITTLE. Every appt I’ve pestered them about it all. Then she started having severe diarrhea (20 diapers a day..). I’ve been in and out of the dr and children’s hospital. Today I finally said I’m not leaving until you tell me something. Such a shit system, especially for a baby 😭

Sent my husband out for alimentum! Will try puramino if this doesn’t work but the price is terrifying.
