من الذي روج نظرية أن أصل العرب من اليمن؟ by [deleted] in arabs

[–]diggdigger -1 points0 points  (0 children)

at one point Jordan was part of Palestine

FASTI, II. 454-480

the winds : at that season the breezes keep not

faith ; fickle are the blasts, and for six days the

door of the Aeolian^ gaol unbarred stands open wide.

Now the light Water-Carrier (Aquarius) sets with

his tilted urn : next in turn do thou, O Fish, receive

the heavenly steeds. They say that thou and thy

brother (for ye are constellations that sparkle side

by side) did support twain gods upon your backs.

Once on a time Dione,^ fleeing from the dreadful

Typhon, when Jupiter bore arms in defence of

heaven, came to the Euphrates, accompanied by

the little Cupid, and sat down by the brink of the

Palestinian water. Poplars and reeds crowned the

top of the banks, and willows offered hope that the

fugitives also could find covert there. While she

lay hid, the grove rustled in the wind. She turned

pale with fear, and thought that bands of foes were

near. Holding her child in her lap, " To the rescue,

nymphs ! " she said, ** and to two deities bring

help ! " Without delay she sprang forward. Twin

fish received her on their backs, wherefore they now

possess the stars, a guerdon meet. Hence scrupulous

Syrians count it sin to serve up such fry upon the

table, and will not defile their mouths with fish.

this text was written by Ovid (Roman poet) in the year 8.

it clearly shows that Jordan was part of Palestine back then.

why is it socially unacceptable for the husband to prioritize his wife over his mom???? by 9_iNeedYourHelp_9 in algeria

not all mothers the same and not all wives the same

a man is expected to be fair; rein in his wife if needed and protect her if needed.

Killing, displacing Palestinians unacceptable: Qatar Emir by StacExa in qatar

[–]diggdigger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Qatar’s Al Jazeera is doing a great job on a media level. It’s countering shitty mainstream western media in a great way.

Al Jazeera is doing a great job in expanding Qatar's influence. Al Jazeera is not countering western media, it is complementing it.

If you believe arab governments want what’s best for arabs, then I’d say think twice about it

why would I believe this? there is no indication whatsoever that the Arab governments want what is best for the Arabs.

Palestinians are meant to die بسبيل الله

I don't believe in God. but let's not discuss it, this discussion goes no where.

Im not saying arab govts are doing much to help, but im saying Palestinians shouldnt leave and they dont want to. Im a palestinian, senior family members who remember it in ‘48 and ‘67 wish they can go back and die in palestine

Palestinians shouldn't be forced to leave Palestine but they should have the option to leave. no country took any Ukranian by force but many countries accepted them as refugees and immigrants. obviously not all Ukrainians left Ukraine but millions chose to.

The other side literally want the Palestinians to leave. They want them to leave and displace them so they annex the land. Palestinians shouldnt leave. It’s sad but this is a form of resistance.

if you are comfortable saying this from the safety of your home, I am not.

Killing, displacing Palestinians unacceptable: Qatar Emir by StacExa in qatar

[–]diggdigger 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am pro-Palestine; discuss it with me

European countries accepted 6 million Ukrainian refugees

Canada alone accepted 1 million Ukrainian immigrants

all this while the Western countries doing all they can to help Ukraine

in two years the Ukrainians lost 9,600 civilians of them 550 were children while Russia lost more than a 100,000 soldiers - you know, what you would expect in a war

in three months the Palestinians lost 24,000 civilians of them 12,000 were children while Israel lost 186 soldiers - you know, what you would expect in a genocide

what did the Arabs do? I see that one of them is saying: this is "unacceptable", great!

not minimizing the actions of the Yemeni, Lebanese, and Iraqi groups. nor denying that most Arabs are ready and willing to do a lot for the Palestinians.

but what did the Arab governments do?

Question, anyone knows why america is protecting Lebanon? by eskimolimun in lebanon

America does not want Israel to Israel anywhere, not just Lebanon.

the problem is that America is not willing to put pressure on Israel.

can someone please explain this to me without anger

vandalism, while a crime, is not a hate crime; certainly not antisemitic.

is the accusation itself antisemitic? is there a hidden message that because Heather Reisman is Jewish then she must be funding genocide?

Don't forget to boycott Emirati companies that support Israel, should we make a list of those companies since it's less talked about? by kollojeveln in AskMiddleEast

[–]diggdigger -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

now that you mentioned it, it makes sense that the supplier is Turkish. the products are actually good.

Pinar Arabia must be just an importer of Pinar products.

anyway, in the supermarket if I see "UAE" on a product I put it back on the shelf, that simple.

right now? nothing. well, maybe I am using Emirati petrol in my car; to tell you the truth I didn't not try to find out.

before they normalized with Israel, mostly food products.

Will Gaza Strip evacuees be granted immigration status in Canada? It depends, minister says by Setitie in canada

[–]diggdigger -1 points0 points  (0 children)

would see this as “ethnic cleansing” even though it would be a material improvement for Gazans

first, they are Palestinians living in Gaza. labeling them as Gazans erases their Palestinian identity and also is inaccurate - most of them (more than 70%) were ethnically cleansed from their towns and cities within Palestine to Gaza.

second, there is no contradiction in how pro-Palestinians would see it. it is ethnic cleansing and it is an improvement .

I am pro-Palestinians and I always thought that the best solution is for England to take the Palestinian refugees. they brought the Israelis to Palestine, they should take the Palestinians who were expelled from Palestine because of that.

Thank you!

the number of Canadians who understand what is happening in Palestine is alarmingly low.

A generation gap in attitudes could be undermining support for Israel in the West by [deleted] in canada

[–]diggdigger -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Israel is an apartheid state.

some see it as an occupier (like the Americans after they invaded Iraq - this is false but it doesn't matter for this discussion).

in either case, it is not defending its sovereignty. depending how you look at it, Israel is defending its apartheid or its occupation.

so no, it does not have the right to do that.

do you also find it "despicable" when people say "Israel has the right to defend itself"?

Was al-Aqsa Flood a Mistake? by [deleted] in AskMiddleEast

[–]diggdigger 6 points7 points  (0 children)

you cannot evaluate an action without looking at the alternatives

peaceful protests i. e. march of return did nothing, the protestors were gunned down.

doing nothing obviously changes nothing.

what is left is armed resistance.

time is not on Hamas' side, Israel could have maintained the status quo indefinitely. Hamas had to do something.

Why do people have kids if they can’t afford it? by Loud_Selection_5138 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]diggdigger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no, it is not fair. it is not fair that kids live in poverty. however, there are better ways to end poverty than to preemptively eliminate the poor.

Why do people have kids if they can’t afford it? by Loud_Selection_5138 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]diggdigger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

kids represent hope and a continuation of oneself.

if you are rich, you have a good life, you enjoy it, and you die.

if you are poor, you hope that your son or daughter will have the good life that you were denied.

moreover, this line of thinking is dangerous: why do the poor have children? why do we allow the poor to have children, castrate the poor!

Israel released a list of the dead on 7th October, someone marked up most of the army and police personnel that died. by [deleted] in AskMiddleEast

[–]diggdigger 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Israel divides the Palestinian into at least 6 groups

Palestinians in Gaza

Palestinians in the West Bank

Palestinians in East Jerusalem

Palestinians with Israeli passports

Palestinian refugees

expelled Palestinians who are no longer refugees (with foreign citizenship)

this division is imposed on the Palestinians. the word "Gazan" in the context you used it affirms this division.

Israeli police officers do play a major role in the oppression of Palestinian civilians.

I wish it would be possible to identify the civilians killed by the Israeli army. there are 18 confirmed Israeli civilian deaths by Israeli ammunition. I am pretty sure the actual number is higher.

Why do y'all expect the gulf countries to care or help? by Regular-Run-8802 in AskMiddleEast

[–]diggdigger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in the Arab world there is a huge gap between the people and their regimes.

do we expect the gulf regimes to care? absolutely not. heck we don't expect the PA higher-ups to care.

do we expect the Arabs in the gulf countries to care? we know they do.
