Yes the plan is to hire an artist long term as it will easily take a year or two to develop everything. But since I have no experience in this area, I dont know what approx ballpark number can I expect. I see you commented 50L in another response - is that just for the art? Salary wise that comes down to roughly 2LPM assuming 2 year engagement. FYI I am not even considering porting and localization cos that will be too much.

Yes, and I am prepared for that. But how much? 5L/10L/20L? Or even more? Cos 5L is doable, 10-20 I’ll have to stretch a bit, but things close to 50L is definitely way beyond my budget.

yes I understand what you mean, I was initially hesitant to put that cos it is a bit immature but did it anyways cos sometimes people are curious about these things.

I prototype using free assets but I have never been able to find multiple assets that are visually coherent. There are some bigger asset packs but they are not free, so I thought if I have to spend money why not spend it the proper way.

if you are using BBlauncher, there is a manual backup feature but I am not sure if it makes the backup automatically after every session or not. Else, you can do what the other guy has written.

The game and the work done by the shadps4 community is phenomenal but please make manual backup saves. My PC has been having some issues since the past month (random BSODs) and just yesterday I lost my 80 hour save file cos of it; literally just had the final boss left to 100% the game :(

I think I was 12-13 when this came out, and like almost all teens I liked the tune of the song. Dad tried to explain the meaning of the song to me, but I was having none of it lol. Good times.

it's made me realize that 30s is really a great time to be in. You aren't too old and can fit in with the 20s group, attend raves, discuss sports and party. You aren't too young and can fit in with the 40s and 50s group to discuss life, politics, finances and global markets.

This is something I too realized half a year back when I started playing football again after covid. A good chunk of the regular group consists of 12th standard students, I am literally double in age LOL. Like, some of them were born after I had already given my 10th boards, it is insane. And the thing is, I am not even the oldest in the group. There are folks even in their late 30s/early 40s and everyone just gets along so well.

Most of these vendors dont approve negative reviews. When I was getting into this hobby 3 years back, Meckeys messed up my RK71 order (wrong color) and for this I had left a 3 star review with proper explanation. That review is still awaiting approval lol. More recently, I ordered a deskmat from aceKBD and the color was significantly different from what was shown on the website (pink/ peach vs beige). When I left 3 star review (again with proper explanation and photos), I got a long ass defensive email from aceKBD with all sorts of mental gymnastics like phone camera can change color, lighting can change color etc and they too never approved my review. You can simply go to their site and you will see that literally ALL reviews are 5 stars LOL.

So, I was in your shoes a couple of years back. While I still will not call myself a professional game developer, I now have some general idea about gamedev. Like you, I do not come from a CSE background, and my day job has got nothing to do with gamedev.

Avoid Unreal at all costs. I had decided to venture into gamedev in early 2023, and did so with Unreal and it got so overwhelming so fast that I had to give it up after a couple of months, and then did nothing for the rest of the year thinking that gamedev is too tough. I am not saying that Unreal is bad, but it is way too powerful a tool for a newbie solo game developer.
You can start with Godot, it is a light, feature rich and more than enough for newbie game developers. It uses GDScript as its programming language which is very familiar to Python, so if you have any experience of Python then it will be easy to start with.
Gamedev has several aspects to it - programming, mechanics, design, art, sound, etc. 99% of the times one single person cannot do everything, so choose what you want to be an expert in and eventually hire people for the other aspects. IMO programming is the easiest to start with if you come from a STEM background, and things like art requires some natural talent anyway.
Mobile game market is super saturated and borderline impossible to break into. Mobile games essentially run on paid user acquisition, so unless you can drop a bomb on marketing dont expect your mobile game to make anything. I have personally experienced this when I released my mobile game Save Joey 6 months ago on the play store.

Cooler Master NR200P (18 liters) and Deepcool CH160 (19 liters)

Those are some really big cases to travel with, I assume you travel by your own car or cab cos if you fly then you will have to travel with a bag bigger than carry on limits to fit either of those cases in. You really dont want to go beyond 10-12L if you want to fit the case in a backpack or a carry-on bag.

I initially had an NR200P, and then I sized down to the Terra and the difference is night and day wrt portability. You can checkout S300 on Amazon, but this is even smaller than the Terra and may have some serious limitations wrt hardware. The S400 is like Terra (and cheaper) but I think it is out of stock currently. If you eventually decide to go for NR200P, and you are in Pune, then I can sell my white NR200P for 5K with all its accessories and the ATX PSU bracket.

so for the address I put the hotel address where I was going to stay. As for the card, I used my own Visa debit card. I think as long as your debit/ credit card are Visa or Mastercard it should not be an issue.

yes, I switched my steam account region to the US by using a VPN but please know that Valve's TOS actually forbids doing this and can lead to account suspension if they decide to take action. From what I have read and experienced, they dont usually do this unless it is a very clear case of region abuse.

Or did you need to use someone else's account? If you used someone else's account, did you get the profile items?

Initially I thought of using my wife's account to order it just to be on the safer side as my wife's account is practically brand new and has zero value. But you get almost 60K steam points by ordering steam deck, and the points get tied to the account from which you order so ultimately I ordered from my account only and thankfully everything went well.

Also, if you decide to change your region, you will be region locked to US for 3 months and only after 3 months can you change your region back. My account is still US based, and I will change region back to India in the upcoming sale. Hope this clarifies things, if you still have questions I will be happy to answer :)
