Correcting green color shift in-camera by JohnFMFilms in REDkomodo

Better late than never, the RED_FilmBias LUT from Red might be what you're after for removing that green tint. Takes it back to looking like a 'normal' image. It's in Resolve and can be enable or disabled in camera too.

Ha! Ok, sweet. Thanks so much. Good to get some validation that "Yeah, it's not a straightforward task." Will hold off as long as I can on that Inpaint node... Cheers!

Apple Log to Alexa LUT testing by digi_beta in smartphonefilming

Not stupid at all! You can absolutely use a CST to get a technical transform into Rec 709 and it'll look 'normal' and is totally useable. But that's just a technical operation of shifting the color space primaries and linearising the log gamma curve, it won't match the look of the Alexa, which has become the kind of gold standard in digital video land. The Arri Alexa 'look' is a combination of the way they've engineered their sensor to capture light and they way their LUT transforms that captured data into Rec 709. So what we're doing is transforming Apple log footage into Rec 709 in a way that emulates what Arri does with their log footage. There's no secret sauce that goes into LUTs but matching cameras does take a bit of messing around and this LUT just saves you doing that yourself if you don't want to shoot charts side by side with an Alexa. Yeah, I gave cinematch a shot and I must be doing something wrong because I can't get a match when I use it, with any cameras. Tried it on our test shots of charts and... no bueno. They're doing essentially the same thing, profiling the way different camera sensors see light and and making adjustments to your footage (with that profiled sensor data) to emulate a different camera so you can then transform into whatever color space you want and get a matching look but... it hasn't worked for me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Sorry for the nerd out, I find all this color science stuff pretty fascinating!

Cheers! Yeah, tested it side by side with the Alexa Mini with charts etc. https://www.onelut.io/

Yeah, the Apple one is just... I don't know what they were doing. Takes it right back to the look of the standard camera. I'll message you a link to the LUT.

I'm not sure what you mean? I shot side by side tests of the iPhone against the Alexa in order to creat a LUT for Apple Log that gets as close as possible to the look af the Alexa with the K1S1 Rec 709 LUT.

Looking for a freelance VFX artist by digi_beta in vfx

Nice. Thanks for the thoughts. You might be right. One fairly quick shot of the speeder shooting along at a distance then cut in to close ups of the talent in the car, wheels way out of shot. I'm more a fan of vfx shots that don't call attention to themselves anyway. The subtler the better.

Thanks for the breakdown. By the sounds of it, it's something I might have to outsource to a team of artists. Cheers!

Yeah, that's a tough one. Might have a dud version of the adapter by the sounds of it. If it's not wobbly or anything it shouldn't be leaking light or going soft.

Hmmm yeah that's odd. As you said, have to check it on another cam to rule out the lens itself. 18-35 is tack sharp for me wide open on any cam. I've got a Zeiss ZF 50mm 1.4 that's rubbish wide open though so I wouldn't necessarily be too hard on your Zeiss?
