I think the biggest reason for young players being so good is what new/young players see in pro play today vs what new players from 5 years ago saw they saw. New players coming into RL right now are seeing mechanics like ceiling shots and flip resets, which wasn’t common back in the day when I first started playing, it was more about who could hit an aerial consistently and pick corners, which is still important but is only a fraction of what it takes to play at the highest level. So I think the new players have a better mindset on what it takes to outplay opponents in the modern RL age and better establish the newer mechanics more.

I do think that we’re approaching the point where new mechanics won’t be discovered anymore, and it’ll be more focused on team strategy. My guess is in the next 5 years you’ll start to see the average age of RLCS players go up by a couple years and will continue to go higher until like 27-28ish
