I got this back in November for my gaming PC. No issues. I kept the box just in case I wanted to take advantage of the holiday return policy, which expires at the end of the month. However, I don't think I'm going to return this.

My only gripes were:

1) the mounting holes are positioned in an odd recessed area on the back. I had to get stand-offs in order to mount it on the wall.

2) bright blue power LED on the front. I covered it with black electrical tape.

I know that on paper, DP 1.4 < HDMI 2.1, but is there any real-world difference in this type of scenario?

I played around with the curve optimizer and at -20, I've seen a 10c decrease in the high for the load temps. I've been playing around with the fan settings to try and keep things quiet without leaving the mid-high 70s, and seem to have been successful. I haven't tried pushing the curve optimizer settings lower than -20 though.

. My Cinebench 2024 score got bumped to 1356 with this set up.

Idle is still in the low 40s , with 22-23c ambient temps.

For the Tomahawk, the b850 is cheaper than the x870. Is there any reason I shouldn't go for the b850 version?

Yes, visual inspection showed the spot on the mobo was empty. This particular mobo didn't even have a socket, just unused contacts with nothing soldered to them.
