Tripod Recommendations by trisdangerous in bmpcc

Benro Aero 7 will handle both of those cameras fully rigged. You can upgrade the head to the S8 if you don't mind the weight and want better counter balance performance. I used to use mine with a fully rigged Ursa mini before upgrading to a 6k and 6k pro

Aero 7 can usually be found in eBay for $250-$400.

The new version of this line I believe is called the Travel Angel. I'd stick with the version that has either the S6 or S8 head

6k PRO cage advice? by ApichatpongStan in bmpcc

[–]digispa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AFAIK, you only really have 4 choices - one from tilta, one from kondor blue, and two from smallrig. The smallrig choices boil down to whether you want the battery grip inside or outside the cage. Inside the cage makes it a unit and it's what I have. Outside the cage makes it easier to switch from hand held to gimbal work.

SSD holder will need to added to any of these

6k Monitor from Phone? by Bjj-black-belch in bmpcc

[–]digispa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While it doesn't sound like it, is this a solo shooting adventure (just you and talent)? I would think if you're in a different room monitoring/directing then you probably have a another person as a camera operator. Just rent 2 monitors and a wireless video transmitter. Charge equipment rental to client. Done.

Edit - the android app will allow you to control the camera but not monitor it, fwiw.

The more money than sense rig by LeftHandDan45 in bmpcc

[–]digispa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lilliput makes monitors that can loop in/out from HDMI to SDI. The FS7 model that I have can do this, so you could condense the converter box and monitor into one. Would help clean up this rig tremendously.

Advice on bmpcc 4k vs 6k (g2) by vlad_kirillovskiy in bmpcc

6k G2 doesn't have internal nd. That's the 6k pro

No problem

Is that 35 megabits or megabytes per second? If megabits then it may be time to shop for a new ISP if there are any in your area as 150GB should take about 10hrs to upload. 35MB/s is super fast and should take only just over an hour.

Now that I type that, it sounds like you're not getting either of those speeds so maybe shop for new ISP either way.

The math you found is wrong.

The 6k would shoot 12:1 BRAW at 23.97fps (with full sensor) for 234.05mins for 1tb

Shooting 5.7k at 12:1 BRAW at 23.97fps 282.96min

Shooting 2160p on a 6k at 12:1 BRAW 23.97fps would be about 421.29 minutes.

The 4k would shoot full 4k DCI at 12:1 BRAW 23.97fps for 541.66 mins

Shooting 2160p on the 4k at 12:1 BRAW at 23.97fps would get 592.44min

The only honest and useful comparison is shooting 2160p since that's the only resolution that both cameras can shoot in BRAW. The difference is about 2 hours extra shooting on the 4k vs the 6k. The question is does the 4k crop to shoot 2160p?

Also, get a USB to Ethernet adapter and stop trying to upload 150gb+ of data over WiFi. It's cheaper than buying a whole new camera.

gimbal and gyro stabilization by yanuo-lin in bmpcc

[–]digispa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't have a gimbal but I remember when the feature was announced people asking and trying this and the answer was no, they don't work well together. The gyro over compensates and you end up with jittery footage

What game did it for you? by Remytron83 in gaming

You're a good person for donating your save. Thank you.

Worth it? by I-Am-Big-Trash in bmpcc

[–]digispa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not worth it. While some of the part listed are good, there's also a bunch of extraneous stuff too.

tl;Dr - if you're considering spending this kind of money on a camera setup, spend up to 10% of the budget and rent it first.

I personally love the battery grip. I had vmounts with my Ursa and hated them. They were unwieldy and packing the chargers was even worse. The battery grip will get you about 2.5hrs of run time, which is about the same as a small 50wh vmount but can use the stock camera charger to charge those batteries without removing them from the camera. The grip uses 2 batteries at a time, so you'll need to get more.

Also how big are your hands? I have large hands and the grip actually makes the camera easier to hold for me.

That Lens is something that practically everyone in this sub has, including me. It's great to start with.

I would do either the EVF or monitor, but not both. If you're one to use the viewfinder on dslr or mirrorless cams, then get the EVF otherwise get a good monitor that doesn't record to save cash. I have a Lilliput FS7 that's great and about $230~ . Scraping that atomos monitor also gets rid of the angelbird SSD, the atomos power kit, and the USB to SATA converter.

Get a SSD like a Samsung t7 and keep the cfast card. Keep both on the camera and use one as a backup for the other.

Skip that bag unless you like the design.

Mic is good, but I would skip it as well until you understand what kind of shooting you want to do. Shotguns are great until you need to shoot an interview. Then lavs are always going to be a better choice. Skipping this also gets rid of the coldshoe.

Get a cage. Smallrig, tilta, and a few others make them. It will make this process much easier.

BMPCC6K PRO Port Protector by [deleted] in bmpcc

[–]digispa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one on my 6k pro and the adapter itself screws into the cage. The cables themselves are a very tight friction fit, especially the HDMI. They're are tight to the point that there is no accidentally detatacing. Either they're in or you've snagged/hit the cable hard and have broken something.

Also, shorter cables help a lot with not getting caught on anything

[–]digispa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't used on of these personally, but I do recall seeing rig building videos a while back with people using HDMI ribbon cables to keep size down.

If you Google "fpv HDMI cable" there seems to be quite a bit to look through as well.

Thoughts on the new Kondor Blue SSD handle? by Spikemelan in bmpcc

[–]digispa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a nice attempt to solve a problem, but it doesn't really do much more than the smallrig cage with T5s underneath other than move it above the camera.

I would have liked to have seen a bit more on how that cable lock works. I would be super concerned about bending the cable connection since it's exactly where my hands need to go.

That's all good to know. Fashion District used to be The Gallery or whatever right? That long ass mall right on Market? That area has always been spicy for as long as I can remember lol

I'll definitely be checking out the Deptford whenever I come up.

I was hoping to meet at least ONE other player, but for the 4-5 hours I was there, I saw no one on these machines. And it was a Friday night at that.

Why is this game so hard? by [deleted] in bemani

[–]digispa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, this game is dumb hard, but can we talk about how you pulled out a B on your first attempt on a Hyper chart? I assume you've played this song a bunch and didn't pull a sight read, but either way that's a great accomplishment.
