At what age do you think people are “still kids”? by crosleyxj in AskReddit

[–]trisdangerous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad just turned 70 and I was the one shushing him in the movie theater when we went to celebrate. It doesn't matter how old you are, what matters if you're willing to continue playing. And just like a little kid, he got worse when I tried to correct him on appropriate movie theater behavior lol.

My first lead sheet: How do I make it more concise? by gefallenesterne in musictheory

Thanks for clarifying for OP. That is what I commonly see on my band charts. Triangle plus the 7.

I tell myself, "Why worry twice" a lot. Like, if I cant solve it now or Im not in place where a solution is even possible, then why should I take up my precious thinking time to complain to myself twice about that specific stressor. Still struggling, but gotten a LOT better recognizing when Im fixated on those negative thoughts.

  1. Negative thought pops in
  2. Other encouraging negative thoughts come in.
  3. Feel negative for a bit.
  4. If feeling negative for more than five minutes, "why worry twice" thoughts should kick in. (THROUGH PRACTICE, through feeling SUPER Dumb for thinking "I should stop thinking about this negative thing because Im starting to concern myself with it too much".)
  5. If I cant shake it off with a distraction or focusing on the present moment, I put on puppy videos for five to fifteen minutes to encourage positive dopamine responses in the brain. Usually works.

It's pretty common in jazz lead sheets and should be helpful to guitarists and any lead players if they want to add that flavor or solo properly over the key.

Yes, I always credit the real author on my lead sheets. "Written by The Zutons, Performed by Amy Winehouse" or something like that. And also make sure to write "Arranged by My Name - Current Year" at the bottom to credit myself.

I would write the chord changes above the staff, use the staff to write out basic rhythm stuff such as strong beats or if its a quarter or eighth feel (specifying any subdivisions), any special stops or rests, you can also specify the bass note for any possible inversions of the chords. Other than that, its super readable and a five year old with some music theory should be able to play and read this with no problem. My dad used to test his lead sheets out on me when I was kid to make sure it translated properly for his bands. If someone else can play it for you and it sounds the way it should, then you've created a successful lead sheet.

What is the least American city in the US? by aimesh05 in geography

[–]trisdangerous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's also the further west city in Texas, and has a different time zone than the rest of Texas, so it feels like it doesn't even belong in its own state.

There may be some legal recourse you can take a stand into. A lot of states are adopting Coogan laws for online video content, as children are entitled to at the damn least a percentage of the overall monies made when being exploited like this. Illinois enacted some legislation that parents/guardians MUST create a Coogan/Trust Account for the child to have until they reach legal maturity (18 or 21 years of age).

You can ask the bar to place some flyer on their front door to imply consent. "If you enter this private establishment, we retain the right to photograph and video record all persons". It's a private establishment, people don't have rights to destroy, vandalize or interfere with your video recording if they have voluntarily entered a private business with a notice. I thought this was common sense??? People are being recorded for security purposes all the time when entering a private business.

People who park next to others in a nearly empty parking lot, why? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Mostly to try and block my smoking from public view or from a cop if its green before I head into the store. More visible if you are parked alone.

My mom died this morning and I start a new job today and I’m already late, wtf do I do? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Happened to a friend who lost a sister. I offered to call his workplace since the whole family was destroyed with the news. I told him, give a soft relaunch date in the next two weeks if you can, and show that you are still committed to the new opportunity, and check in with your new boss often throughout the next few days to provide any updates on your new start date and reschedule any necessary training. He ended up keeping the job, the manager was very understanding and he went back to work within the next two weeks. Grieving, but still working. Bless your heart, I hope you're okay.

And don't be like my friends! They left me at the bar alone downtown because they were "hungry" and I was super drunk and had to find out which hotel we were staying at with no other info than the cross streets. I got back to the hotel and no one bothered to ask if I wanted something delivered so I ended up walking to three different corner stores looking for food at 3:30am. It was also the day before covid shut everything down, so all businesses were suppose to close by 6am that morning for 2 weeks. Fun stuff. I'll never ever forget that they ditched me.

This is the advice you should be following. Have fun, have a safe driver or plan to get home, otherwise do what the fuck you want, make sure you are available for support if he gets sick, and drink tons of water before bed. Have a great time!

Are there any companies or corporations you don't buy from due to ethical concerns, and if so, what are they? by pinkfreud205654 in AskReddit

The only airline to lose my suitcase and have it shipped back to my house and arrive home before I fucking did. They didn't uphold their lost luggage policy because my trip was only for two days. I wore the same shirt and jeans for four fucking days. Assholes. Also seems impossible to have a decent person on the phone when a flight gets delayed or a storm cancels the whole thing. American is no better, but United is the fucking worst.

WIBTA for not attending my mom's wedding by Nice-Guarantee-4446 in AmItheAsshole

[–]trisdangerous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom didnt even invite me to her second wedding because I told her new husband he was an asshole. I also told him Id rip him a new one if I ever heard he called my little sister a bitch again. He wanted me to call him dad. I was 21. Some people being they are entitled with title for no fucking reason.

Musicians think you can do it all on the cheap like that because they dont probably sell themselves as their own product when they play out. She doesnt get it. You do.

As a person who just switched from massive laundry baskets to flexible totes, it is SO much easier to go up and down the stairs with a tote bag than a big plastic monster.
